Onto Innovation
• Work with Application Manager to provide comprehensive application support to our current installed base and future installs • Interface with customers to highlight application opportunities and possibilities to strengthen ONTO position in the market • Perform on-site tool qualification to achieve customers specification • Travel to customer sites to assist both with improved tool utilization and experience • Collect future development feedback from the field and dispense it to our engineering/marketing group for future development to improve ONTO position within the market • Give application support to the sales team to increase ONTO Innovation's market share • Liaise with Application HQ group to ensure application studies are completed to customer requirements and within acceptable timeframes
Job Requirements
- 3-15 years experience working in semiconductor manufacturing industry preferably in relevant areas (metrology, inspection)
- Fluent English
- Strong Microsoft Office product knowledge
- Experience with metrology and/or inspection equipment
- Good knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes proven through similar application support or process engineering roles
- University degree (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD or similar) or Engineering school degree in a relevant technical field (physics, chemistry, engineering, etc.)
- Experience with software systems and methodology commonly used in metrology/inspection such as statistical process control, tool matching methodology, spectra modelling, defect management systems, yield management systems, etc. is a plus

In this role, you will serve as a technical leader within our commercial nuclear team, driving the design, development, and integration of digital and analog electronic systems in commercial applications and Navy instrumentation and controls systems. Your expertise will shape innovative solutions and ensure the performance, reliability, and sustainability of mission-critical systems, while contributing to the long-term evolution of our engineering capabilities. Job Responsibilities - Design, troubleshoot and implement digital and analog systems incorporating A/D, D/A, microprocessors and microcontrollers. - Provide obsolescence management for legacy analog systems, including the selection and justification of alternate/substitute components. - Generate proposals related to upgrades of existing installed legacy systems as well as new system installations, including both technical descriptions and budget/schedule estimates. - Provide schedule and technical compliance updates to management to effectively manage the execution of complex design programs. - Validate system performance using analysis, simulation, and laboratory testing. - Generate complete system documentation and provide input to technical proposals to effectively communicate the design and/or approach to our internal and external customers. - Apply Design for X (DfX) methodologies including but not limited to Design for Cost, Design for Test, and Design for Manufacturability into the products being developed. - Independently develop and implement corrective action to product and procedural problems identified. - Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. - Communicate with the customer and internal management as a technical expert to achieve cost effective, technically compliant best in class design solutions. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to power electronics design processes and methodologies.
