Job Description

Senior Data Analyst

Lingokids

Lingokids is on a mission to help families raise amazing kids through Playlearning™. Ready to join us on this exciting journey? 🚀 Lingokids is a global leader in educational technology, helping over 185 million families worldwide raise amazing kids through Playlearning™,our unique approach that blends education with play. Our mission is to empower children with modern learning experiences, combining educational subjects with essential life skills to help them grow into confident, conscious, and resilient lifelong learners. Beyond our award-winning app, we’ve built a multi-platform educational universe, including our “Baby Bot” and “Baby Bot’s Backyard Tales” shows, Podcasts, and Music Publishing. Our content, developed in collaboration with top education experts and Oxford Press University, ensures an engaging, high-quality learning experience in a safe, ad-free environment. This dedication to excellence has earned Lingokids multiple industry awards across app, podcast, and video categories, including Best Original Learning App by Kidscreen Awards, National Parenting Product Awards by NAPPA Awards, and Best Parenting Product by Good Housekeeping, among many others! As a Senior Data Analyst on the Product Engagement team, your core mission is to deeply understand the Lingokids user journey - from first install to long-term retention - and translate that understanding into concrete targeting and engagement strategies. You will map how different user segments move through the product, identify friction points and opportunity windows, and recommend specific interventions (content, messaging, features, timing) that help us reach the right user with the right action at the right moment. You are the person who knows our users better than anyone else on the team. What you'll do - Own the end-to-end user journey for both free and paid (Plus) users: map how users enter, explore, convert, churn, and reactivate across the product. - Identify key behavioral patterns, friction points, and high-value segments through deep cohort analysis, funnel decomposition, and engagement profiling. - Translate findings into targeting recommendations: define which user segments to prioritize, when to intervene, and what levers (content, notification, paywall, onboarding) are most likely to move the needle. - Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track user journey KPIs - activation rates, habit formation milestones, retention curves, conversion touch points - so product and growth teams always have reliable, actionable visibility. - Partner with product managers to design and analyze A/B tests that validate targeting hypotheses and optimize specific journey moments. - Work closely with Data Scientists to ensure your segmentations and journey insights feed into modeling and personalization initiatives. - Contribute to content quality evaluation - analyzing how different content types and formats perform across user segments, and assessing how content is produced and how to surface the most relevant content to each user. - Depending on the squad, this may include recommendation observability work - tracking what is being recommended to whom, and monitoring diversity, novelty, and coverage across experiments to ensure recommendation quality is visible and measurable. - Translate retention and engagement findings into revenue and LTV impact - sizing the business value of user behavior changes and helping prioritize where to focus next. - Present findings with clarity and conviction to stakeholders at all levels, making complex behavioral patterns easy to act on. What you'll bring - Advanced SQL: fluent in complex queries (window functions, CTEs, nested aggregations, sessionization) on large-scale data warehouses such as Databricks or BigQuery. - Deep product analytics expertise: strong hands-on experience with behavioral analytics platforms (Amplitude, Mixpanel, or equivalent). Comfortable building funnels, retention curves, cohort analyses, and event-level user flows from scratch. - User journey thinking: ability to go beyond reporting metrics and reconstruct why users behave the way they do. You connect data signals into coherent narratives about user intent, motivation, and friction. - Targeting and segmentation mindset: experience defining actionable user segments and translating them into concrete product or growth recommendations - not just describing who users are, but what to do about it. - Statistical rigor: solid grasp of A/B testing, significance testing, and common pitfalls (novelty effects, SRM, peeking). Comfortable communicating uncertainty and caveats clearly. - Storytelling and influence: the ability to turn complex analyses into clear, persuasive narratives for non-technical stakeholders. Strong at structuring findings into recommendations that drive decisions. - End-to-end ownership: a track record of defining problems independently, building the right analytical framework, and following through until insight becomes action. Nice to have - Experience with Python (Pandas, Matplotlib) for more advanced data manipulation or exploratory analysis. - Familiarity with DBT or other data transformation tools. - Experience in a subscription or freemium business, particularly around lifecycle and retention analytics. - Exposure to CRM targeting logic, push/email segmentation, or personalization frameworks. - Experience with subscription revenue modeling or LTV estimation. English is a must: We’re a multicultural team providing a service in English, so while certifications aren’t necessary, fluency is essential. As a fully remote company, clear and effective spoken and written communication, especially in asynchronous and long-form formats, is key to collaborating successfully. Learn more about life in our Tech teams here. Got your attention? Read on… Job Description We're on the hunt for talented Data Analysts to join the team as we grow our business. Our vision is simple, an effortlessly rewarding experience where customers only need to tell us something once. We are redesigning our digital landscape to ensure that being multi-service means being seamless, whether that’s a lightning-fast onboarding journey, automated home moves, or proactive push notifications. We are investing heavily on solving root causes, not just symptoms. We are looking for product-minded talent to own these journeys, turning complex utility data into simple, transparent, and high-value digital experiences that customers enjoy using. We deliver progress. What you’ll do and how you will make an impact. We work in small, fully autonomous teams that have real ownership of their products. We use the best tool for the job and constantly look for better. As a Data Analyst at Utility Warehouse, you will own the complete "Data-to-Insight" value chain for single projects. This role combines the technical skills to build production-grade data pipelines with the soft skills to manage stakeholders and drive domain-specific decisions. You are the core "builder" of the team. This role marks the transition from implementing to designing. The defining characteristic of this level is the independent management of the deployment lifecycle. You will be responsible for ensuring that data transformation logic is not just correct, but reproducible, tested, and version-controlled. You will not just report on data; you will build and maintain the analytics layer data models and automated pipelines that power our company’s decision-making engine. You will leverage modern data stack technologies (SQL, BigQuery, Dataform, Looker, Mixpanel) to transform raw data into high-value strategic assets, ensuring scalability and accuracy across business functions. Your responsibilities will include: - Analytics Engineering (Dataform/dbt): Build and maintain end-to-end analytics-ready data models in Dataform, independently handling complex logic and transformations. - CI/CD & DevOps (Data version control): Apply version control (through tools like Git & Github) and unit testing practices to analytics models, to ensure data assets are stable, reproducible, and ready for deployment. - Performance Engineering: Write optimised SQL, proactively tuning for performance (cost & runtime) and addressing alerts about data quality. - Ownership: Independently plan and execute medium-to-large requests through to completion; identify and proactively address tech debt. - Actionable Insight: Translate complex data into actionable business insights. Move beyond "what happened" to explain "why it happened" and recommend "what to do next." - Dashboards/Reporting: Build visual self-serve dashboards and reports for users to access KPIs / metrics and explore/analyse pre-built data set. - Stakeholder Management: Manage the full request lifecycle. Actively engage with stakeholders to refine broad requests into clear requirements, providing accurate estimations and delivering within agreed timelines. - Domain Ownership: Develop deep knowledge of a specific domain (e.g., Marketing, Product, Finance). Understand the impact of key metrics on the business and participate in defining team goals based on this knowledge. Qualifications We put people first. It’s all about you.. Here's some of the key skills and experience we're looking for you to bring: Technical & Data Engineering Mastery: - Proven experience in writing optimised, modular SQL (Intermediate - advanced proficiency) - Experience of building end-to-end, analytics-ready data models in Dataform, underpinned by a strong grasp of the engineering lifecycle (including Git/GitHub version control, merge conflict resolution, and automated unit testing). Analytics Architecture & Delivery: - Solid expertise in building reusable LookML code within Looker and the ability to independently lead medium-to-large analytical projects—from selecting the right tool for the job (e.g. Looker vs Mixpanel) to providing accurate estimations and hitting delivery timelines. Commercial Impact & Domain Knowledge: - A track record of aligning analysis with business needs and translating complex datasets into actionable insights that influence stakeholder decisions, - Ideally you will have experience in regulated utility or a similar high-volume consumer industry. Operational Excellence & Collaboration: - Experience in maintaining high data standards through observability (configuring freshness and quality alerts) and producing traceable documentation (Data Dictionaries), with a demonstrated ability to support non-technical teams through clear data storytelling UW skills and competencies: - Prioritisation - Collaboration - Communication - Attention to Detail - Project Management Additional Information So why pick UW? We’ve got big ambitions so there’s going to be plenty of challenges. There are also a lot of benefits: - Competitive salary: We benchmark against the industry and will share the salary openly during our first conversation. - Performance bonus: An annual discretionary bonus ranging from 15-40%. - Flexible working: We’re a remote-first business. - Work-life balance: We offer an optional four-day working week (90% pay for 90% impact). - Work from anywhere: You can work abroad for up to three weeks, twice every tax year. - Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays (increasing with tenure), with the option to trade up to five days each year. - UW discounts: Save on our services and get a free Cashback Card. - Future planning: Matched-contribution pension scheme and life assurance (up to 4x salary). - Family first: Policies designed to help you and your family thrive. - Flexible benefits: An allowance for private health insurance, dental insurance, or gym membership. - Sabbaticals: An eight-week paid sabbatical after four years of service. - Growth: A dedicated learning and development budget and bi-annual promotion cycles. - Inclusion: Join belonging groups that help shape our culture. - Events: Company-wide celebrations including the ‘Great Big Get Together’ and our ‘Good Hearted Go-Getter Awards’. Apply now You’ve got this far... Hit apply - we can’t wait to hear from you! Worried you don’t hit all the criteria? We welcome applications from diverse and varied backgrounds so get your application in and let’s chat! Beth Rodgers will be your point of contact throughout the recruitment process. Not sure you meet all the requirements? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of other underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs if they think they may not meet every qualification, when in fact they often do. We provide equal opportunities, a diverse and inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone. You are welcome to apply no matter your age, disability, gender, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity status, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. Please don’t be afraid to ask about what we can do to support your needs. All requests will be carefully and fairly considered. Please note, if you are successful and offered a role at UW, you will be subject to a background check. Where checks are unsatisfactory or incomplete and/or a failure to reveal information relating to convictions that you are required to identify as part of the background checks, could lead to withdrawal of an offer of employment. - Employment Status: Full-Time
