POSITION OVERVIEW The remote Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers comprehensive speech and language therapy, evaluations, consultation, and assistive technology support exclusively through secure, compliant teletherapy platforms. This role supports Legacy Traditional Schools by identifying students’ communication needs; interpreting assessment data; guiding multidisciplinary teams in eligibility decisions and intervention planning; and recommending and supporting augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, FM systems, and other communication-related assistive technology as appropriate. The SLP collaborates remotely with teachers, families, and administrators across multiple campuses to promote communication development, academic progress, and social skills while ensuring all virtual practices meet ASHA, IDEA, FERPA, HIPAA, and state requirements in a fully remote environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assessment and Eligibility - Administer, score, and interpret comprehensive speech-language assessments using approved tele-assessment tools and virtual observation protocols. - Participate in virtual multidisciplinary evaluation team (MET) meetings to contribute speech-language eligibility data and develop data-driven service recommendations. - Prepare comprehensive electronic evaluation reports that integrate assessment results, clinical observations, and teacher/parent input in compliance with state and federal timelines. - Conduct virtual speech-language observations using remote protocols, evaluating the validity of digital assessment results and documenting any tele-assessment limitations in accordance with professional best practice standards. Service Delivery - Provide evidence-based speech-language therapy services aligned with IEP goals through individual and small group teletherapy sessions. - Develop structured virtual lesson plans using curriculum-based materials, multimedia tools, and interactive digital resources to support communication skill development. - Implement tiered intervention supports within MTSS frameworks through virtual small groups, social skills groups, language enrichment sessions, and “lunch bunch” interventions as appropriate. - Collect and analyze progress monitoring data using secure digital systems to evaluate student growth and adjust interventions as needed. - Collaborate remotely with educators and families to generalize communication skills across digital and classroom learning environments. - Adapt therapy delivery to accommodate students’ developmental needs, engagement levels, and technological access requirements in a virtual setting. Collaboration and Consultation - Consult virtually with educators and families to support the generalization and functional application of communication skills across digital and classroom learning environments. - Provide recommendations for classroom accommodations, modifications, and communication-related assistive technologies, including AAC systems and digital communication supports as appropriate. - Collaborate remotely with special education teams to ensure coordinated implementation of IEP goals and communication supports. - Supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), when assigned, in accordance with ASHA standards and applicable state-specific licensure and supervision regulations. Compliance and Professional Practice - Maintain secure electronic documentation, progress reports, session notes, and IEP records in compliance with federal requirements and applicable state-specific timelines. - Adhere to IDEA, FERPA, HIPAA, ASHA standards, and applicable state-specific licensure and professional practice regulations. - Maintain active state-specific licensure and complete required continuing education, including competencies relevant to telepractice service delivery. - Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality in all remote interactions and digital service platforms. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES - Strong knowledge of speech-language development across articulation, language, fluency, voice, and pragmatic communication domains. - Expertise in evidence-based speech-language intervention strategies. - Excellent communication, documentation, and collaborative problem-solving skills. - Strong organizational and caseload management abilities. - Proficiency with documentation systems and digital data collection tools to support compliance and progress monitoring. - Expertise in teletherapy methodology, virtual engagement strategies, and technology-based interventions. - Advanced proficiency with teletherapy platforms, AAC systems, and digital learning tools to support remote service delivery. Education, Licensure, or Certification - Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. - Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). - Valid state-specific certification or credential authorizing practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state(s) where services are provided. - Valid state-specific professional license, if required, authorizing practice within educational and/or clinical settings. BACKGROUND CHECKS - Must successfully pass a criminal history background check in accordance with applicable state and organizational requirements.
