Job Description

Principal Software Engineer

Xplor Technologies

Company Description At Xplor, we believe that helping people make the most of each day is the most rewarding way to spend ours. We give small and medium-sized businesses cloud-based, intuitive technology solutions that enable them to manage all the hassles of running and growing a business, so business owners can get back to doing what they love. With Xplor Pay, we help businesses get paid quickly and securely – without hidden fees. We built the tech ourselves, and our platform delivers secure, transparent, fast, and accurate payments. We are unified by our purpose of helping people to succeed. So, when you become part of our team, you also become part of the personal connection that strengthens the relationship people have with Xplor products. Job Description About the Role You’ll be one of the first key engineering hires on a new AI Products & Platform initiative, working directly with senior leadership to shape how AI is built and applied across Momence and the broader Xplor Fitness ecosystem. This is a foundational role — you’ll help establish patterns, ship early AI-driven capabilities, and influence the technical direction of AI across multiple products. The work spans customer-facing features and internal platform capabilities that enable teams to move faster with AI. Reporting into the VP of Engineering, you’ll work across backend services, APIs, integrations, and frontend experiences. AI/ML experience is helpful but not required — what matters most is strong engineering fundamentals, product thinking, and the ability to operate in ambiguity. What You’ll Do - This is a full-stack role where you will build and ship AI-powered features across the Momence platform (e.g., AI sales & support agents, intelligent member engagement, natural language reporting, workflow automation) - Develop integrations with leading AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and evolving interfaces - Design and implement scalable AI patterns including prompt frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and feedback loops - Contribute to building AI-native capabilities embedded into core product workflows - Build internal tooling to accelerate engineering velocity (AI-assisted development, testing, migration tooling, agent workflows) - Collaborate with teams across Momence, Mariana Tek, and other platforms to identify high-impact opportunities for AI - Contribute to architecture decisions and help define technical standards for AI systems - Operate end-to-end — from identifying opportunities to delivering production-ready solutions - Help establish responsible AI practices including observability, logging, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop systems - This average base salary pay range for this position is $150,000-$200,000 USD. - For this role, we can offer a fully remote working arrangement once you are based in the United States and hold full working rights. Ideally, the candidate would be based in the East Coast time zone to enable effective collaboration with engineering team members in Prague, Czechia. #LI-Remote Qualifications What would make me a good candidate? We are looking for curious and empathetic people. We also love to hear from people who are motivated by meaningful work, resonate with our four core values, have a positive outlook, are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive working in an ever-evolving and complex environment. We are inspired by meeting big picture thinkers and doers, people who can be both tactical and strategic, aim high and put people first in everything they do. Required qualifications for this role: - 8+ years of software engineering experience - Strong backend fundamentals (API design, service architecture, data modeling, distributed systems) - Solid frontend experience with modern frameworks, design systems, and web standards - Proven ability to ship products or meaningful features end-to-end - Comfort working in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements and ambiguity - Strong ownership mindset — able to take ideas from concept to production - Clear and proactive communication — this is a high-visibility, high-impact role Nice to Have - Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), prompt engineering, or RAG pipelines - Familiarity with agent-based systems or workflow automation using AI - Experience with AWS (including Bedrock, Lambda, or event-driven architectures) - Experience building internal developer tools or productivity systems - Background in SaaS, B2B2C, or marketplace platforms - Experience making architectural or build vs. buy decisions At Xplor, we believe that the best innovation and ideas happen at the intersections of our differences - people of diverse cultures, generations, disciplines, and lived experiences. So even if you think you do not tick all the boxes, we still encourage you to apply. Additional Information What does it mean to work for Xplor?
