Job Description

Senior Accounting Manager

HFD

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial reporting integrity • Support month-end and year-end close processes • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across HFD and its related entities • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis • Oversee preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP • Ensure proper accounting for loan portfolios, SPV structures, and intercompany transactions • Directly manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback • Support hiring and onboarding of additional accounting staff as the team grows • Establish clear workflows, standards, and expectations for the accounting team • Serve as an escalation point for complex accounting matters and technical questions • Collaborate with the Capital Markets team to support investor reporting and SPV-level accounting • Work closely with Treasury and Payment Operations teams to reconcile revenue, collections, and cash activity • Partner with Engineering and Operations to define data requirements and ensure the integrity of financial data flowing between systems • Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows and documentation • Leverage accounting technology to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes • Assist in implementing new accounting software or ERP tools as the company scales

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus either a CPA license or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop accounting staff
  • Experience supporting external audits
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across departments
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and be self-motivated
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel
  • Preferred: Big 4 or Mid-Tier audit background
  • Experience in financial services, lending, loan servicing, or healthcare finance
  • Experience with loan management systems and mapping LMS data to the GL
  • Familiarity with SPV structures, intercompany accounting, or fund accounting
  • Experience with NetSuite, or similar ERPs
  • Background working in a high-growth, remote-first environment
