Pre-Litigation Paralegal Assistant
Job Duck
• Confirm advance costs and value screen subtotals against accounting records • Re confirm provider balances when verification exceeds 30 days • Calculate health insurance payments and support lien dispute processes • Retrieve missing insurance cards from clients when needed • Identify health insurance information and subrogation contacts • Confirm all bills and payments are accurately reflected in value screens • Locate account numbers and verify dates of service and billed amounts • Contact medical providers to confirm balances and billing information • Review prior file handler notes to verify case accuracy • Track response timelines and conduct follow up when responses are delayed • Send medical and billing authorizations to providers and collection agencies • Support pre litigation paralegals and attorneys with daily case documentation needs • Disburse checks and scan copies into the system for record keeping • Assist with preparing settlement statements ensuring balances are current • Open liens and assist with lien related documentation • Request and track reductions and upload all related documentation • Cross reference bills between case documents and value screens • Confirm payment addresses for providers and insurance carriers • Identify missing bills and notify paralegals when documents are needed • Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the pre litigation team • Scan and properly tag all incoming correspondence into case files • Contact clients to confirm addresses for escrow disbursements or office pickup • Follow up on escrow items and confirm final payments or balances
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a legal assistant, or in a legal support role and/or related Bachelor's degree in legal studies
- Prior experience in personal injury or pre-litigation environments preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in file management
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow up persistently with providers and third parties
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfort handling repetitive follow-up-driven tasks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with paralegals and attorneys
