Sr. Project Development Manager - Solar & Battery Asset Development is responsible for advancing solar + storage projects from early-stage site identification through Notice to Proceed (NTP) and construction handoff. This role owns the full development lifecycle, including site control, permitting, interconnection, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality, financeable projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience navigating municipal permitting, utility interconnection, and community engagement in distributed generation markets. Responsibilities: - Lead development of solar and solar + storage projects from site feasibility through Notice to Proceed (NTP). - Understand and execute on community solar and net metering programs in designated states. - Manage project schedules, budgets, and risk across a portfolio of assets. - Drive project optimization to maximize subscriber value, ensure program compliance, and support long-term performance. - Evaluate secured sites that are suitable for solar development, including negotiation of land leases, purchase options, and access easements. - Coordinate title review, surveys, and comprehensive site diligence. - Lead municipal permitting, zoning approvals, and land-use processes, including managing environmental and site studies (wetlands, stormwater, geotechnical, cultural). - Conduct community outreach and work with town officials, boards, and residents to address local concerns related to visual impact, construction, and land use. - Manage distribution-level interconnection applications, studies, and approvals, and evaluate costs, timelines, and upgrade requirements. - Coordinate with electric utilities, consultants, and internal engineering teams throughout the development process. - Oversee preliminary layouts and system design for community solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring constructability and compliance. - Support cost estimating, value engineering efforts, and financial modeling inputs for project valuation. - Coordinate inputs for subscriber acquisition, offtake structures, and incentive programs. - Assist with lender and investor diligence through construction handoff. - Deliver development-ready projects to construction and asset management teams, ensuring clean documentation, permits, and stakeholder alignment at NTP. - Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Real Estate, Business, or related field - Minimum of 10 years of renewable energy development experience with community solar or distributed generation Additional Qualifications: - Demonstrated experience advancing projects through local permitting and interconnection - Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills - Experience with community solar program rules and incentive structures is preferred. - Battery energy storage development experience (preferred). - Familiarity with EPC contracts, project finance, and subscriber models (preferred). - New York and Massachusetts experience preferred (preferred). The anticipated salary range for this role is $134,000 - $194,000 per year (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role. Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. About the Position Dimagi is looking for a Project Manager to support our Data & Analytics work within the US Solutions Division. This position will be affiliated with our Cambridge, MA office but is open to remote employment within the United States.
