Lead Proposal Writer
Seven Dimensions
• Serve on a team of proposal writers, gathering and formatting information, outlining proposal sections, and editing drafts. • Analyze RFPs to develop proposal documents, including compliance matrices, section outlines, win themes, storyboards, and team reviews. • Assist with research of new business opportunities, assess the competitive landscape, and identify potential teaming partners. • Assist with maintaining and managing business development/opportunity tracking databases. • Establish priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, and review to meet proposal deadlines. • Proactively communicate challenges and mitigation plans to the President. • Assist with developing the storyboard process, develop board outlines, and facilitate preliminary review sessions. • Collaborate with the director of growth/ proposal manager to develop proposal templates, style guides, and standard formats to ensure quality and consistency. • Review proposals for compliance with RFP requirements. • Organize and maintain databases/documents of past performance data for proposal use. • Continuously improve proposal writing processes based on feedback from leadership. • Develop strong relationships with technical experts, teaming partners, and internal project managers to understand our core competencies better.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 5 years proposal writing experience (3 years working with federal contracts)
- Familiarity with federal government contracting, including regulations compliance (FAR), and overall federal acquisition process
- Experience writing ROP (Request for proposal)
- Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly, concisely and persuasively under time constraints.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook and Excel) and proposal software (Capture to Proposal, GovWin, GovTribe, Sam.gov) or similar programs.
- Proven experience in working with teams, partners, and subcontractors; working in cross-functional teams or matrix organizations preferred.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and persist under pressure.
- Ability to align business development strategies with organizational goals.
- Familiarity with proposal best practices and industry standards.
- Experience in project management, sales, marketing, or business development is a plus.
- Department Of Defense proposal writing experience preferred
- Military experience, particularly in Special Operations Forces (SOF) Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) or Intelligence-related MOSs, will be considered highly valuable

Job Description Job Title: Progressive Writer Intern Reports To: Core Content Team Lead and the Managing Editor Job Description: The Progressive Writer Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by completing essential tasks in the Core Content Department. The Progressive Writer Intern will focus on writing political content for ONC, including but not necessarily limited to high-quality OpEds and Policy Proposals for ONC’s website. Though Writers will be responsible for producing their own content, the process will be very collaborative, with lots of political discussion in a respectful, nonpartisan environment. Exceptional writers may be given the opportunity to help write a book that will be published by ONC. In addition to ensuring that diverse content appears on the site, this intern will participate in podcasts, events, and other assignments as needed. Furthermore, this intern must ensure that ONC's commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate is evident in all published work. The Core Content Writers will consist of conservative, progressive, and moderate writers, and the team will continue to focus on our 8 policy areas, Governance, Economics, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Foreign Policy and Defense, Justice and Public Safety, Social Issues, and Science, Environment and Technology. This intern must have interest and experience in at least one of these areas, preferably two or three. The Core Content Department will meet on Friday’s at 6:30pm (EST) with all writers, mentors, the Core Content Team Lead, and the Managing Editor. Lastly, applicants must submit a writing sample with their application. This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. This intern must commit to at least the end of the Spring semester (April 30, 2026). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.
