Staff Software Engineer
Wheel
• Design and build scalable backend and full-stack systems that support high-volume, mission-critical healthcare operations. • Collaborate with product, design, and client solutions teams to deliver new platform capabilities and integrations. • Lead technical design and architectural decisions that drive reliability, scalability, and maintainability. • Automate and optimize system performance through CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and resilient infrastructure. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance and uptime using data-driven insights. • Mentor engineers by sharing best practices and driving technical excellence across teams. • Take ownership of work end-to-end, from design through deployment and post-release iteration.
Job Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and shipping production web applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to non-technical partners.
- A bias for ownership and a drive to improve both systems and processes.
- (Bonus) Experience in healthcare, high-availability, or regulated systems.
