Role Description As the Software Engineer II at Upstart, you will: - Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners across Product, Analytics, Machine Learning, and Capital Markets to build scalable systems that respond to changing lender needs, funding dynamics, and borrower behavior. - Design, build, and maintain real-time services that power origination fee computation and offer filtering. - Develop scalable, reliable systems that support experimentation and rapid response to market changes. - Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and engineers to drive smarter pricing decisions and efficient capital deployment. - Work with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimizing marketplace performance and lender alignment. - Ensure the security, performance, and availability of critical pricing platforms. - Participate in code reviews, testing, and the deployment of high-quality code. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or a related field (or its equivalent) + 3 years of experience, with a strong focus on distributed systems and APIs. - Experience with some or many of the following: Kotlin, Python, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails. - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud native environment. - Experience with microservices architecture and real-time data processing pipelines (Kafka, Spark, or similar). - Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL and data warehousing solutions.
