• Work with technology companies to identify improvements of existing technology, organizations, processes, and tools used to develop software products and services. • Work with private equity companies and other investment firms to help them understand the technology strengths, risks, and opportunities for improvement for potential investments (I.e. technical due diligence). • Design and implement solutions from scratch (e.g. Agile methodology transformations), guiding and mentoring more junior software developers and other engineers. • Collaboratively work in partnership with internal and client technical leads and team members.

This role is for engineers who are comfortable operating across the stack while bringing strong backend and systems design expertise. This role is part of our Services team, which builds the shared backend services and system foundations that power many of Crosslake’s tools and products. These systems are designed for reuse, scalability, and long-term maintainability. This role requires strong architectural thinking and hands-on execution, with a focus on building reliable, extensible services that support multiple use cases over time. - Design and build shared backend services and APIs used across multiple systems - Define service boundaries, contracts, and data models - Own the full SDLC: design, development, testing, deployment, and iteration - Contribute to domain modeling and system design decisions - Ensure services are scalable, reliable, and reusable - Improve system cohesion and reduce duplication across tools and products - Use AI tools to accelerate development while maintaining high code quality - Balance speed with long-term maintainability and extensibility Qualifications - 7+ years of software engineering experience - Strong backend expertise with the ability to operate across the full stack when needed - Experience designing service-oriented or distributed systems - Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) principles - Exceptional systems thinking and ability to model complex domains - Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - Solid understanding of the full SDLC - Deep experience with AI coding tools Requirements - Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools beyond basic code generation - Ability to leverage AI across the workflow (e.g., prototyping, debugging, test generation, QA, code review, security analysis) - Ability to balance AI-assisted development with sound system design and long-term maintainability - Familiarity with modern AI-enabled development environments and practices Preferred Experience - Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) - CI/CD and modern DevOps practices - API design (REST, GraphQL, event-driven systems) - Messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS), Event sourcing, CQRS patterns - Data modeling (SQL and NoSQL) - Observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) - Experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, TypeScript, Golang, Rust - Basic understanding of data engineering principles What success looks like - You design services that are reused across multiple systems - You create clean abstractions that simplify downstream development - You balance speed with long-term maintainability - You improve system consistency and reduce fragmentation - You effectively use AI tools to increase speed without sacrificing quality

The expert judgment of our experienced practitioners is complemented by proven frameworks, tech-enabled solutions, and objective data to help organizations navigate critical technology decisions across diligence, transformation, growth, cybersecurity, AI, and operational execution. We’re building small, highly capable engineering pods (2–3 engineers) that own problems end-to-end and move quickly from idea to production. This role is for engineers who are comfortable operating across the full stack and using modern AI-enabled workflows to accelerate delivery. This role is part of our Core Products team, which builds and maintains the tools Crosslake practitioners use to manage assessments and deliver results to clients. You’ll be expected to design, build, and ship software with minimal handoffs—working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure as needed. • Develop and expand relationships with top-tier Private Equity clients, Portfolio Companies and Advisors to drive business growth • Scope engagements by collaborating with clients to understand their needs and bring Crosslake’s diverse technical capabilities to drive tangible outcomes and solve real problems • Lead client-facing project teams to deliver projects that meet their objectives on time and on budget (accountable for internal budgeting, scheduling and resource utilization) • Participate in and drive company-wide strategy and vision discussions • Lead specific product/practice areas, including setting roadmaps/plans and contributing to the evolution of templates and artifacts • Onboard and sponsor new practitioners, including interviewing practitioner candidates and helping make engagement determinations • Approve SOWs, budgets and timesheets for accuracy and reasonableness • Serve as project lead or second on engagements as needed • Participate in sales calls/SOW writing as needed

• Perform network-based penetration testing for our clients to identify, assess, and report on vulnerabilities in their public facing infrastructure. • Perform penetration testing on web applications and APIs (internal and external) to identify, assess, and report on vulnerabilities in their applications. • Perform red team exercises to determine where weaknesses in the client’s infrastructure and how it should be remediated. • Write clear, concise, effective deliverable reports for clients to help them understand their risk posture and how they can reduce it. • Advise clients on security best practices including application design, infrastructure architecture design, and other considerations. • Collaborate with other Crosslake practitioners to socialize penetration testing best practices.

• Own project plans, facilitate daily scrums, manage releases end to end, and keep cross-functional teams on track. • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for delivery and execution across the organization. • Build and maintain high-level project plans with clearly defined milestones and deadlines. • Track progress across teams and drive accountability to keep work on schedule. • Facilitate daily stand-ups for delivery teams. • Own the release checklist from readiness through deployment, ensuring the right reviews and sign-offs are completed before anything ships. • Schedule and run deployment meetings with the external DevOps partner. • Keep project tracking tools and release artifacts clean and reliable so teams and stakeholders can trust the data.

• Manage client-facing project teams to deliver projects that meet their objectives on time and on budget • Drive and participate in company-wide strategy and vision discussions • Cultivate and build client relationships with top-tier accounts (site visits, QBRs, etc.) • Drive specific practice areas and set roadmaps/plans • Capable of scoping an engagement • Interview practitioner candidates and help make engagement determinations • Onboard, train and mentor new practitioners • Accountable for internal budgeting, scheduling and resource utilization • Approve SOWs, budgets and timesheets • Contribute to evolving practice templates, methodologies, and artifacts • Serve as project lead or second on engagements as needed • Play a leading role in shaping and closing engagements, including solutioning, scoping, and proposal development • Set and enforce a high bar for written communication, including grammar, formatting, and visual quality across all outputs • Review and elevate client deliverables to ensure clarity, rigor, and executive-level polish (content, structure, and presentation)
