DX is the leading developer intelligence platform, recently acquired by Atlassian , helping companies quantify and improve developer experience. As Head of Engineering, you'll report directly to the DX CEO/Co-Founder (who has led engineering since DX's founding) and oversee a multi-team organization. Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company. This is a remote position. To help our teams work together effectively, this role requires you to have 7+ hours of overlap with Mountain Time zone and will require some travel to our DX office based out of Salt Lake City. In this role, you will: - Own day-to-day engineering execution for DX, the developer intelligence platform helps enterprise leaders understand developer productivity, quality, and speed across the SDLC. - Lead, grow, and support an organization of managers and senior ICs delivering data pipelines, metrics engines, and AI-powered analytics and dashboards. - Work directly with enterprise customers and internal design partners to validate hypotheses and inform what you build next. - Establish core engineering rituals (planning, reviews, on-call, incident management) suited to a fast-moving, high-ambiguity environment. - Partner with Product and Design on a roadmap that balances near-term value with long-term platform and data investments. Your background: - 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director/Head/VP level), ideally in SaaS startups. - Served as the senior-most engineering leader (or one of a very small number) at a Series A/B or equivalent high-growth stage, including building teams from a small base. Ideally in developer tools, analytics, or AI-driven products. - Comfortable operating from 0-1 in high ambiguity: defining direction with limited precedent, iterating quickly, and adjusting based on customer and business signals. - Proven track record of leading distributed engineering organizations (40+ engineers) through periods of growth and transformation. - Demonstrated ability to set technical vision, drive execution, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Excellent communication, executive presence, experience interfacing with customers, and stakeholder management. Compensation At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones.
