E-Commerce Controller

• Manage and review complex accounting functions, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, bill payments, and accounts receivable for multiple entities • Oversee annual accounting procedures to prepare financial records for tax preparation, 1099s, and tangible personal property returns • Prepare financial compilations on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis based on client needs • Identify and address material misstatements, inconsistencies, and risks in financial reports • Provide advisory and financial consulting services to clients, leveraging industry expertise • Prepare engagement budgets and monitor performance to ensure efficient use of resources • Foster and develop meaningful client relationships to ensure expectations are clearly defined and met • Conduct detailed reviews of engagements, providing constructive feedback and mentoring less experienced team members • Research complex accounting issues and present recommendations with supporting documentation • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to address project statuses and financial concerns • Participate in training programs and independent learning to maintain and expand technical knowledge • Demonstrate time management skills to prioritize engagements and ensure timely delivery of work • Perform other duties and display flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership • Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity
Job Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in general accounting
- CPA license or eligible (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, specifically with online retail or e-commerce models.
- Experience with platforms like Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and online inventory based businesses.
- Thorough understanding of complex accounting principles, including GAAP and financial reporting frameworks
- Proficiency in learning and using accounting software and related tools
- Strong leadership and communication skills for mentoring teams and managing client relationships
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Analytical thinking to identify risks, inconsistencies, and solutions in financial reporting
- High accuracy in mathematical and accounting tasks
- Ability to oversee multiple engagements and ensure compliance with firm procedures
- Proactive problem-solving skills, including leadership in collaborative solution proposals and implementations
- Ability to design and optimize accounting processes to drive efficiency, ensure accuracy, and maintain internal controls

RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide senior level oversight of commercial and infrastructure lease portfolios, including renewals, expiries, amendments, and terminations. - Lead lease administration and financial controls for large portfolios, including tracking obligations, payment processing, reconciliation, and variance analysis. - Ensure lease data accuracy and completeness to support financial reporting and audit requirements. - Support and advise on the negotiation of complex agreements such as easements, licenses, statutory rights of way, and long-term infrastructure leases. - Assess portfolio risks and opportunities, offering strategic recommendations to clients. - Collaborate with client finance teams to align lease management practices with accounting standards and internal controls, including IFRS 16 where applicable. - Ensure all lease documentation and processes meet regulatory, contractual, and client specific requirements. - Prepare consolidated reports, dashboards, and financial summaries to support senior leadership and client decision making. - Contribute to audit readiness and respond to complex lease related inquiries. - Support optimization of lease management platforms (e.g., SAP or equivalent systems) and emerging technologies, including automation and AI enabled tools. • Reconcile historical transactions for multiple entities (2023–2025 YTD) • Reconcile bank + credit card accounts • Ensure accurate categorization of all transactions • Produce audit-ready Balance Sheet and P&L • Maintain clean AP/AR aging reports • Sync customer records between CRM and QuickBooks (when applicable) • Confirm reconciliation completion with leadership before closing each entity • Weekly reconciliations across all assigned businesses • Weekly reporting package including: - Summary of income/expenses vs prior period - AP/AR aging and due dates - Trend flags (unexpected spend, missed income, anomalies) • Monthly financial statements: - P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow - Budget vs Actual analysis - Savings opportunities and performance insights
