AVP – ESG Risks Management
Mashreq
• Coordinate the second line responsibilities of ESG Risks related Policies, Physical & Transition Risk Assessment, Measurement, Mitigation while maintaining regulatory compliance against ESG & Climate risk related regulations across Mashreq Network. • Lead change management initiatives around ESG and Climate Risks related evolution on a global basis. • Support Mashreq’s Net zero commitment and transition planning journey by enhancing maturity of ESG Risks related second line responsibilities. • Embed climate risk and sustainability aspects into credit underwriting journey via policy enhancements to sustainable finance credit policy. • Develop and maintain green & sustainable finance transactions framework aligned with regulatory guidelines and best practices while supporting a robust control environment around greenwashing risks. • Develop and maintain climate risk appetite related qualitative and quantitative metrics, concepts and coordinate the governance of these via group wise risk appetite statement. • Provide qualitative and quantitative risk management inputs towards ESG and Sustainability related disclosures like GRI, ESG Reporting, ISSB etc. • Change management for ESG & climate risk related initiatives and automation projects in coordination with ESG team, One Data & Technology, External consultants and other stakeholders across three lines of defense. • Support the internal & external capacity building initiatives via training and awareness program around ESG & climate risk. • Coordinate & conduct of gap analysis, roadmaps and remediation plans for various ESG & climate risk related regulatory guidelines and associated regulatory submissions.
Job Requirements
- Graduate in Banking / Economic/ Financial discipline
- Professional risk management certifications related to climate risk or ESG like CFA/SCR/FRM/GRI is a must
- Three to five years of experience in ESG, Climate Risk, Sustainability discipline from a complex multinational financial institution is a must
- Familiarity and experience of risk management concepts of IFRS 9, RWA, ECL, Risk Appetite, Stress Testing, ICAAP etc. is must
- Strong analytical skills focused on assessing ESG risks for a financial institution from underwriting, assessing, measurement & mitigation
- Hands-on experience with Climate risk related tools like MSCI, PAT etc. will be preferred
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, TCFD, ISSB, IFRS S2) and the ability to develop frameworks and policies based on regulatory requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders across business, risk, and support functions in dynamic, multicultural environments
- Arabic language will be a plus
- Well-organized and capable of managing multiple priorities while staying informed on the latest climate science, technology, policy developments across regional/global climate trends.
