IT/OT Engineer

IFF

• Design, maintain, and continuously improve IT/OT (Information Technology / Operational Technology) data pipelines connecting manufacturing systems with enterprise platforms • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing data, automation, and system integration issues using sound engineering and data principles • Develop, maintain, and modify automated workflows, scripts, data transformations, and interfaces supporting manufacturing operations • Integrate and enhance data from process historians, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and PLC/OT data sources • Partner closely with Operations, Process Control, Quality, and Digital teams to enable data-driven plant performance • Support global and site-level digital and data initiatives, including prioritization and execution • Promote best practices in data modeling, automation, documentation, and scalable solution design • Provide technical guidance to plant and business stakeholders to support EH&S, production, cost, quality, energy, reliability, and sustainability goals • Contribute to data governance, standardization, and continuous improvement across manufacturing sites

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Several years of experience in manufacturing, industrial data, automation, or engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, data architectures, and IT/OT integration concepts
  • Hands-on experience with data automation, scripting, and analytics technologies (e.g. Python, SQL, ETL tools, data platforms)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and drive solutions to completion in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and digital teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach with attention to data reliability and quality
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders

Key responsibilities: - Investigate and answer technical questions related to instrument hardware and software, as well as applications - Document customer interactions in support tickets - Follow up on and close out support cases regularly and in a timely manner, and follow the appropriate customer concern process as needed - Comply to company processes, including complaint handling - Work closely with field and repair center teams - Provide customer feedback to internal departments such as marketing, product support, and sales - Support the development and implementation of plans to improve technical services, capabilities, and customer satisfaction - Occasionally travel to attend events such as internal Agilent training classes and customer service call shadowing For this role, the ideal candidate would be based in near the Winooski, VT or La Jolla, CA Agilent sites, however remote employment may be considered for the right candidate Qualifications Qualifications - Bachelor's and/or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in life sciences such as general biology, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or related field required. - Preference will be given to a Ph.D. degree in a life science. - 4 + years hands on experience with laboratory instrumentation. - Strong communication skills both written and verbal. - Ability to work with complex data analysis. - Proficient with Microsoft software platforms. - Previous customer-facing experience preferred. The successful candidate will be autonomous, outgoing and customer focused. They will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with external and internal partners. A desire to help others and solve problems is essential. While being flexible and adaptable, the successful candidate will also have strong planning, organizational and time management skills. Additional Details This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $34.00 - $56.84/hr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
