Primary responsibilities include abstracting and coding specific patient, cancer, and treatment information from numerous sources, as well as maintaining and updating existing patient records. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT - Schedule: 40 hours per week, hours and days are flexible but some meetings during normal business hours will require attendance - Abstract cancer-related data according to ICD-10, American College of Surgeons, American Joint Commission On Cancer (AJCC) and other standard setters to generate reports regarding cancer surveillance and improvement of care. - Assist in performing quality assurance reviews. - Assist monthly and annually data submission process to ensure compliance with the American College of Surgeons, American Joint Commission On Cancer (AJCC) and other standard setters. - Facilitate and organize tumor board and other case conferences. - Gather and code patient, cancer and treatment information from numerous sources; maintain and update existing patient records, and verify and review cancer registry data and correct any discrepancies. - Review patient cases, identify potential cases for the registry and assess whether the case is reportable, is already reported, or could potentially be recorded in a file of non-reportable cases. - Follow-up on each case abstracted for the life of the patient. Ensure that follow-up information is collected for each case annually according to Commission on Cancer rules. - Support management and tumor registry coordinator in the process for Cancer Center accreditation. The Department of Radiology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Emergency Radiologist. The selected candidate will join 12 other emergency radiologists. The position provides a flexible work schedule consisting of 10-hour shifts every third week and allows for remote coverage. We will also consider radiologists who wish to work remotely and receive similar salary and benefits. The department is committed to excellence in imaged-based clinical care. Responsibilities include providing diagnostic emergency radiology coverage at an academic medical center with an adult and pediatric Level 1 trauma center. Coverage is also provided to 14 regional emergency departments and 8 urgent care centers. • Review clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for specific patient types to meet the requirements of hospital data or physician data retrieval for billing and reimbursement. • Validate APC calculations to accurately capture the diagnoses/procedures documented in the clinical record for hospitals. • Perform documentation review and assessment for accurate abstracting of clinical data to meet regulatory and compliance requirements. • Interact with client staff and providers when necessary. • Review and analyze facility records to ensure that APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes accurately reflect the diagnoses/procedures documented in the clinical record.
