Role: The West Unit of Mott MacDonald’s North America (NASA) region is looking to appoint a Unit Contracts Specialist to support the management of contractual risks and create opportunities through sound contractual management of projects. The Contracts Specialist will provide training to raise general contractual awareness with project managers; provide oversight of all contractual aspects of large/complex bids including advisement on contracting strategy and achievement of affirmation action requirements, development of teaming agreements, subcontracts, and prime agreements and negotiation thereof; support projects with claims/disputes preparation; and ensure compliance with contractual related business management systems. Duties and Responsibilities - Drive a consistent contractual approach across proposals and projects in the Unit. - Drive the legal review process of all agreements with support from division commercial managers. - Lead the development of the contracting strategy for large/complex proposals and oversee similar work undertaken by division commercial managers where required. - Prepare, with minimal assistance from the company’s legal team, contract agreements, including teaming agreements, subcontracts, and joint venture agreements for large/complex projects and oversee similar work undertaken by division commercial managers where required. - Negotiate fair and balanced contractual terms on large/complex projects and oversee negotiations undertaken by division commercial managers where required. - Develop and negotiate claims and variations on large/complex projects and oversee negotiations undertaken by division commercial managers where required. - Help setup and provide leadership, from a contracts management perspective, for project controls teams on new large/complex projects. - Develop generic project procedures for contract management and administration and oversee the development of project specific procedures. - Preparing training material and provide training on contract management for division commercial managers and project managers. - Promote all aspects of the company’s business management system relating to contracts management. Minimum Qualifications - 4-year degree in Business Administration, Law, or Engineering. - Minimum 10-years of relevant professional experience in design or construction industry on major projects. Experience on large infrastructure projects preferred. - International projects experience including handling contract aspects of US projects is required. - Experience in project contractual matters, change management, and project procurement methods. - Contract and change management negotiation experience with clients and contractors. - Proven track record of successful contract management. - Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. - Excellent interpersonal skills. - Expert knowledge of MS Office 365 and working knowledge of SharePoint. Working hours note: As the role will work closely with the team based in western part of USA (Pacific Standard Time zone), role holder will be expected to be flexible and provide overlap working of about two hours while working from India – which may mean your typical working hours could look like 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm IST.
