• Develop high-quality technical interview questions to update Karat’s technical content library • Uphold Karat’s interview content standards through peer reviews, mentorship, and feedback integration • Use your engineering knowledge to produce Karat’s most complex interview content • Partner with our Content Designers in the development of new content formats • Author new technical interview questions in a variety of subject domains • Mentor more junior Content Development Engineers through peer reviews of content developments • Integrate feedback and iterate on content based on performance data

• Own system architecture across multiple concurrent client projects. • Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and non-functional requirements. • Make final technical decisions on stack selection, integrations, and trade-offs. • Design scalable, resilient systems spanning frontend, backend, cloud, and hardware-adjacent integrations. • Lead technical planning and execution for large, high-stakes client engagements. • Remain hands-on in critical code paths while delegating effectively. • Drive engineering rigor: code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, observability. • Own technical outcomes, including production stability and incident response. • Operate comfortably in a software agency model: shifting priorities, parallel clients, fixed timelines. • Translate ambiguous client requirements into concrete technical plans. • Act as senior technical authority in client meetings. • Balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability under real-world constraints. • Lead and mentor senior and mid-level engineers. • Raise the bar on system design, code quality, and technical communication. • Guide engineers through architectural reasoning and trade-off analysis. • Support hiring, onboarding, and technical evaluation. • Partner with product, design, and executive leadership. • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Align technical execution with business goals and experiential outcomes.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to develop new features and enhance existing applications. • Design and implement frontend and backend components using JavaScript (Node.js) and Python. • Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services as needed. • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards. • Implement automated tests and ensure high code quality through code reviews and continuous integration. • Optimize application performance and scalability to handle growing user demands. • Dive into using and building LLMs (Large Language Models) to enhance our underwriters' productivity. • Debug production issues using the latest tooling. • Help set the direction of the small but growing engineering team.
