Who we are: Flywire is a global payments enablement and software company, founded more than a decade ago to solve high-stakes, high-value payments in higher education. With over 1,200 global FlyMates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 12 offices world-wide, we’re looking for FlyMates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow. Job Description The Opportunity: As the Director of Product, Risk & Fraud, Payments Platform, you are the product leader for Flywire’s defensive ecosystem. You serve as the strategic product counterpart to our Business Risk Directors. While they define the "what" (risk policies and appetites), you build the "how", leveraging machine learning, real-time data pipelines, and third-party integrations to automate fraud detection and credit monitoring. Your goal is to eliminate "manual touch" wherever possible, creating a frictionless payer experience that is simultaneously ironclad against sophisticated global threats. What You’ll Do - Platform Vision: Define and execute the roadmap for a unified Risk & Fraud engine that supports all of Flywire’s payment modalities across our global merchant base. - Automated Underwriting & Scoring: Partner with the Director of Credit Risk to translate manual due diligence into automated credit-scoring models. Build the tools that allow for real-time account monitoring and "Early Warning Systems." - Intelligent Fraud Decisioning: Partner with the Director of Fraud Risk to build real-time rule engines and ML-driven decisioning. You will own the integration of biometric, behavioral, and 3DS tools into the checkout flow. - Internal Tooling: Build the "War Room" dashboard. Design the internal interfaces that our Risk Operations teams use to investigate alerts, manage cases, and orchestrate rapid remediation during high-stakes fraud events. - Data Architecture: Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science to ensure our risk models have access to the richest, cleanest global payment data possible. You will own the "Precision/Recall" product metrics for our automated systems. - Scalable Compliance: Work with localized payment methods to ensure our risk controls meet regional regulatory requirements without adding unnecessary friction. Qualifications Here's what we're looking for: - The Product Visionary: 10+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on Risk, Fraud, or Identity in a Fintech/Payments environment. - The Platform Orchestrator: You understand the "plumbing" of a payment platform. You can translate complex business requirements into product execution regarding API latency, webhook reliability, and feature engineering for ML models. - Strategic Counterpart: You know how to bridge the gap between Business Risk (Underwriting, Collections, Fraud Analysis) and scalable product requirements. - Experience-First Mindset: You believe that security should be invisible. You are obsessed with reducing "false positives" that block legitimate students or travelers. - Data Native: You don't just look at reports; you query the data. You are comfortable using SQL or Python to validate your product hypotheses. - Calm Under Pressure: In the event of a sophisticated attack, you are the product lead who understands how to tweak platform rules instantly to stop the bleed. Additional Information What We Offer: - Competitive compensation - Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) - Flying Start - Our immersive Global Induction Program (Meet our Execs & Global Teams) - Work with brilliant people that will keep you on your toes, learn more about their journeys by checking out #InsideFlywire on social media - Dynamic & Global Team (we have been collaborating virtually for years!) - Wellbeing Programs (Mental Health, Wellness, Yoga/Pilates/HIIT Classes) with Global FlyMates - Competitive time off including FlyBetter Days to volunteer in your community and Digital Disconnect Days! - Great Talent & Development Programs (Managers Taking Flight – for new or aspiring managers!)
