Role Description We're looking for a talented web designer to join our growing team as a contractor. You'll design custom websites for cannabis dispensaries, cultivators, and brands across the country, working closely with our development and project management teams to bring beautiful, high-performing websites to life. This is a contract position with flexible hours and the potential for ongoing work as we continue to scale. This role requires a strong understanding of UX/UI principles, ensuring every design not only looks great but delivers intuitive navigation, clear user journeys, accessibility, and seamless mobile experiences. What You'll Do - Design custom, responsive websites for cannabis dispensaries, cultivators, and national brands - Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines - Create mockups and high-fidelity designs in Figma - Collaborate with our creative director, project managers, and developers to ensure accurate implementation - Design web assets including hero images, icons, graphics, and branded elements - Maintain brand consistency across diverse client projects - Iterate on designs based on client feedback and creative direction - Stay current on web design trends within the cannabis industry Qualifications - 2+ years of professional web design experience - Strong portfolio showcasing custom website designs (cannabis industry experience is a major plus) - Proficiency in Figma, including building and presenting prototypes across multiple device frames (mobile and desktop) - Ability to create interactive Figma prototypes that clearly demonstrate user flow and functionality - Deep understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first design - Experience designing for WordPress websites - Strong visual design skills: typography, color theory, layout, composition, and hierarchy - Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams - Ability to take creative direction while bringing your own ideas to the table - Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently - Reliable internet connection and availability for virtual meetings during business hours Bonus Points - Experience designing for cannabis, hemp, or wellness brands - Basic HTML/CSS knowledge - Experience with Elementor, Webflow, or Shopify - Motion design or animation skills - Brand identity and logo design experience - Understanding of SEO best practices and conversion optimization - Photography or video editing skills Benefits - Work with an award-winning agency on high-profile cannabis brands - Flexible contract hours with competitive rates based on experience - Fully remote—work from anywhere in the US - Collaborative team culture with experienced creatives and industry veterans - Creative freedom balanced with strategic direction from our Creative Director - Diverse, interesting projects in the fast-growing cannabis industry - Opportunity for ongoing work and potential to increase hours as we grow - Be part of an agency that values creativity, authenticity, and community impact Position Details - Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099) - Location: Remote (US-based preferred) - Hours: Flexible, project-based (typically 10-20 hours/week with potential to scale) - Rate: $35/hr - Start Date: ASAP

About Mission Bit Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses. The role As a Lead Instructor for the Intro to Web Design class, you will be at the forefront of high-quality computer science education by connecting with students to foster an engaging and welcoming classroom environment! You’ll use Mission Bit’s in-house project-based curriculum to plan three lessons per week. This is a highly visible, student-facing role that reports directly to the Director of Education. We’re proud to provide training to all instructional staff to prepare them to teach, along with ongoing support throughout the semester!
