About Mission Bit Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses. The role As a Lead Instructor for the Intro to Web Design class, you will be at the forefront of high-quality computer science education by connecting with students to foster an engaging and welcoming classroom environment! You’ll use Mission Bit’s in-house project-based curriculum to plan three lessons per week. This is a highly visible, student-facing role that reports directly to the Director of Education. We’re proud to provide training to all instructional staff to prepare them to teach, along with ongoing support throughout the semester! Schedule Training and onboarding: - Async remote training: June 11, 2026, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM and June 15, 2026, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM - Live in-person training (for in-person and remote instructors): June 16 - 18, 2026, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM in San Francisco, CA - Classroom site visits (for in-person instructors only): 1 hour visit on June 18, 2026 Class dates: - Tuesdays through Thursdays beginning on June 23 through July 30, 2026 from 9:45 AM - 2:45 PM, including instructor prep and wrap up time Demo Day: - July 31, 2026 (tent., location and time TBD) Required weekly meetings: - Weekly Instructor Circles: Mondays from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM via Google Meets with the instructional team - Weekly co-instructor planning meetings: 30 minutes per week End-of-semester wrap-up: - August 3 - 6, 2026 Total weekly hours: - 16 +/- hours per week What you’ll be doing: 70% Teaching, prep, and student support - Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love - Prepare and facilitate two lessons per week to a diverse group of learners, adjusting your lessons appropriately to best meet students’ learning needs - Ensure students are developing sufficient understanding to build their final project at the end of the semester that can be showcased at our Demo Day. - Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students. 20% Professional collaboration - Communicate and collaborate with the TA and other instructional staff, including any classroom volunteers - Attend weekly staff meetings (schedule to be determined at the start of the semester) - You must be comfortable suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve the quality and integrity of Mission Bit and our curriculum. • Work closely with Project Managers, Digital Strategists, Designers, and other marketing experts to create English and Spanish mobile-first website designs for law firm clients in the US. • Directly consult with clients, providing project recommendations and constructive feedback. • Conduct virtual consultations to gather information, align expectations, and guide project goals. • Present designs and explain the "why" behind site elements, layouts, mobile UX, and site performance. • Collaborate with team members, internal stakeholders, and overseas employees to create websites, blogs, landing pages, and other digital assets. • Manage workflow, timelines, and design delivery, ensuring client approval and satisfaction.

• The Web Designer is a UX/UI-forward web role on the Creative Team within the Communications and Marketing Services Unit. • Work alongside designers and Communications and Marketing Services specialists to bridge design and development and carry approved work from Figma into the live experience. • Lead responsive page design, interaction and motion specifications, and build-ready documentation. • Partner with Tech Solutions during implementation to ensure high-fidelity execution. • Collaborate with Project Marketing Specialists and program teams to clarify goals, audiences, content needs, and page success criteria, and to incorporate feedback efficiently.

• Command the full design process including design creation, conceptualization, wireframing/storyboarding, and finalizing layouts for mobile and desktop • Apply current design trends and modern branding styles to create and evolve powerful brand narratives to create visually compelling digital products • Obsessively attend to details to achieve pixel perfection • Identify the true needs of users by taking research and insights into ideas that form disruptive websites and features, then designing the workflows and detailed interactions to realize them and apply the insights to the design and product strategy • Masterfully communicate the purpose and thought process behind your designs to the internal team and clients • Build leading-edge designs for clients across all industries and markets comprised of all sizes ranging from SMB to Enterprise • Evangelize user-centered design practices and their value to the rest of the team, stakeholders, and subject matter experts • Collaborate with strategy and business development teams to create and develop new business opportunities and drive all creative aspects of sales pursuits • Confidently take on high-end projects using both visual prowess and strong social, professional skills to collaborate, receive feedback, and motivate team members • Comfortably have work thoughtfully critiqued by the team and clients to utilize feedback in a process of iteration till a polished end product is achieved • Eagerly and creatively meet project needs to succeed and ensuring Blacksmith is delivering high-quality design work that delivers on our client’s business strategy and mission • Excellent organization execution of all files, layers and folders • Work with President and department leaders throughout each project’s process
