EPC Substation Structural Engineer
Leidos
• Performing design reviews of civil/structural design components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation and transmission projects • Functioning as a senior engineer performing design reviews on a regular basis • Developing junior staff members • Contributing to bids and proposal development • Taking a responsible engineer role on main client projects, overseeing the work and ensuring quality control on design packages • Occasional site visits to client substation facilities may be required • Occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events
Job Requirements
- Bachelors of Science (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience or Masters (MS) degree in engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering
- Experience reviewing substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls
- Demonstrated experience executing infrastructure projects for electric utilities
- Previous experience working with substation and transmission projects is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPILE software
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Willingness to travel, up to 15%
- PE Licensure is highly preferred for candidates with more than 5 years of experience
