How a Cloud Cost Analyst / FinOps Analyst will Make an Impact: - Collaborate with architects and clients to establish cloud economics tools and platforms based on Federal and Industry Cloud FinOps best practices. - Develop agency and program-specific framework for FinOps principals, personas (roles), domains (areas of focus) and roadmap for Cloud FinOps to provide financial recommendations for cloud usage. - Create and present financial models and reports. - Continuously monitor cost of services and perform Total Cost of Ownership studies. - Lead technical and financial analysis to help Business and Product Owners determine the impact of cloud hosting by identifying cost savings design options and usage trends that impact projected spending. - Maintain current knowledge of relevant AWS optimization techniques, best practices, policies, and procedures to share in meetings with NIAID leadership, product teams, and infrastructure engineers. - Help develop the billing and analytics engines of the centralized decision-making portal. - Create and present financial models and reports What You’ll Need to Succeed: Requirements: - Bachelor’s and 5+ years of related experience - 5+ years of experience with Cloud Systems (AWS). - 3+ years of Cloud Financial/Economics experience - 5+ years of experience working with senior business and product owners to develop business cases, perform value and TCO analysis, and identify and implement cost optimization techniques for cloud infrastructure and applications - Experience in developing and presenting reports that quantify the cost benefits of different design options for running applications in cloud - Experience using AWS native optimization tools, such as AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, and/or Amazon QuickSight - Must be able to obtain NIH Public Trust Desired Skills and Abilities: - Strong organizational skills - Good interpersonal skills - Must be able to effectively communicate and be able to convey cloud technologies and solutions to customer personnel. - Knowledge of FinOps general practices. - FinOps certification (any) is a plus. - Experience in building and operating financial control and analysis systems such as cloud cost analysis and chargeback models. - Experience working with stakeholders and development teams. The likely salary range for this position is $97,968 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. • AWS Cloud Infrastructure Management and Architecture, including design, implement and maintain scalable and resilient AWS solutions, manage core AWS services including networking (VPC, Route 53), compute (EC2, ECS), Serverless (lambda, API Gateway) and storage (S3, EBS) • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (AWS CloudFormation) to develop, maintain and optimize automation workflows to streamline deployment, configuration and operations tasks • Utilize Git and version control practices as an integral part of all DevOps procedures and Infrastructure as Code workflows • Understand and implement AWS best practices for defining IAM policies, adhering to resource tagging standards, and ensuring proper cost-allocation tracking • Implement and manage security best practices across the AWS environment, manage Security Groups and Network ACLs • Proactively monitor the cloud environment and its services to ensure optimal performance, availability, and cost efficiency • Manage and support for Windows Server, Linux Server, Active Directory environment across hybrid and cloud resources • Provide support for network operations, security, and communications systems • Participate in scheduled monthly maintenance windows which typically occur on a Saturday night.
