Senior Engineering Manager, Customer Platform
Hims & Hers Health, Inc.
• Lead and develop multiple teams of engineers and/or managers within the Customer Platform (focused on Subscription), fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture • Coach and mentor engineering teams in Agile, Lean, and DevOps best practices, instilling a culture of iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and shared ownership • Define technical strategy and execution plans aligned with business goals, focusing on innovation, reliability, scalability, and quality of our platform • Drive alignment across squads and cross-functional partners to deliver on key initiatives while managing competing priorities • Scale the architecture and systems with long-term growth and performance in mind, anticipating technical trends and integrating emerging best practices, with a strong focus on evolutionary architecture to ensure adaptability and continuous improvement • Design and implement process improvements, enhancing productivity and delivery velocity • Champion engineering standards and ensure robust assurance practices in a modern, agile environment • Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and other cross-functional partners to influence product roadmaps and customer-centric solutions • Mentor and develop engineers, with a focus on succession planning, leadership growth, and building a strong technical bench • Manage staffing strategy, trade-offs that balance resources, technical debt, and innovation. • Represent engineering in cross-functional and executive-level forums, effectively communicating strategy, status, and trade-offs
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees or equivalent experience a plus)
- 10+ years of experience in development, with a strong background in backend systems
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams
- The ideal candidate for this role has deep E-commerce/Subscription experience (Catalog, Payments, Orders, Subscriptions, etc.)
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or other OOP languages and web frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in architecting and scaling applications with a focus on performance, maintainability, and user experience
- Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects with measurable business impact
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills—able to translate strategy into clear execution plans
- Adept at balancing speed and quality, and creating a culture of continuous improvement and ownership
- Strategic mindset with strong business acumen and the ability to advocate for technical priorities in organizational-level planning
- Passionate about talent development, fostering inclusive teams, and creating growth paths for engineering leaders.
