Staff Software Engineer – Developer Experience

• Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment and craft of your team’s projects, ensuring the delivered solutions are highly relevant to developer productivity and happiness. • Promote and influence a data-driven culture across the organization. Use objective measurement as the primary means of communication. • Advocate and articulate your vision, key results and product strategy in simple and clear narratives. • Build relationships across Engineering. Conduct regular DevEx surveys within Marqeta and use developers' feedback for strategy. • Use your extensive technical expertise to mentor engineers, to promote developer productivity within your team and across Marqeta. • Drive both the tactical and strategic roadmap for Marqeta Engineering, using data and customer feedback. • Establish and foster a data-driven engineering culture. Develop superior tooling and metrics to understand the health of our entire SDLC systems. • Conduct DevEx surveys, collect and analyze feedback and define areas of execution for world-class developer experience.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of solid programming experience in Java, Python, Go, or similar programming languages to build large-scale distributed systems.
- BA/BS Degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience
- Experience and deep understanding of effective and efficient SDLC workflows, particularly developer-oriented workflows. Hands-on experience in developing developer infrastructure, services, and workflows.
- Deep experience in driving vision, roadmap, and adoption of Developer Portal products such as Backstage.
- Experience with build systems such as Gradle, Maven, or Make, and familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools such as CodeBuild, Jenkins, CircleCI or Github Actions
- Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), and experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana. Plus points for experience in measuring software development productivity and quality.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to communicate technical strategy and roadmap in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
