Role Description The Software Engineer I is an entry-level engineer who works with a team of Software Engineers to design, develop, test, commission, and provide ongoing support of TGW software solutions. - Collaborates with developers and functional subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver high quality, successful implementations that meet the customer’s expectations. - Writes C# and Java code to meet functional and technical specifications. - Executes unit and integration test plan. - Participates in software functional tests using an equipment emulation model. - Supports onsite commissioning of software solutions as needed. - Provides start-up and post-implementation support for implemented solutions and participates in on-call rotation for 24/7 technical support. - Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience. - Some internship or hands-on work experience programming in an object-oriented environment. Requirements - Up to 40% domestic and international travel. - Experience with integrated development environment(s) (IDEs) such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, etc. - Understanding of object-oriented design principles. - Familiarity with source control, agile methods, and relational database application programming preferred. - Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, internal and external. - Robust knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). - Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time. - Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment. - Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time. - Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices. - Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis. - Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region. Role Description This Senior Software Engineer will be part of the Engineering org, reporting to the Director of Technology. You will participate in our agile software development process and build amazing products that are highly desirable by our customers. You are somebody who loves coding, can distill business requirements, and can lead technical direction while contributing to a fast moving company. Key Responsibilities - Participate in all stages of the software engineering process from conception through release, including: - Collaborate with product management, other engineers, and stakeholders to define problems, set goals, and engineer product features. - Lead the engineering efforts for new and existing products. - Write frontend and backend code of new features from start to finish, which includes system design, development, testing, deploying, and monitoring. - Minimize customer-facing outages by troubleshooting and fixing complex production issues quickly. - Continuously improve Valence Intelligence engineering standards and direction by contributing to code reviews, architecture reviews, internal tools, and knowledge base. Qualifications - B.S or M.S in Computer Science or equivalent work experience - 5+ years of software development experience in a cloud environment. - Strong English comprehension and communication skills - Experience in leading engineering projects. - Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. - Strong work ethic and ability to excel with minimal guidance. - Bonus: React, JavaScript with TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
