Lead Data Engineer, SQL, Python
Clario
• Design and deliver data solutions to support clinical trials • Recommend design approaches and reporting options for successful trial execution • Develop complex custom solutions to optimize data flow across internal systems • Design and configure integrations with external systems • Create custom reports and dashboards integrating multiple data sources • Attend study meetings, review specifications, and provide technical consultation • Perform code reviews, peer reviews, and resolve defects promptly • Document work through release notes and ensure proper unit testing across environments • Troubleshoot technical issues and serve as the last line of defense for escalations • Lead and mentor team members, assist with training, and foster a collaborative environment • Drive strategic initiatives to improve efficiency and automate processes • Ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements • Participate in client-facing meetings and act as a subject matter expert for technical escalations • Coordinate deliverables, schedules, and prioritization for the Data Delivery team • Own CAPAs, support audits, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Job Requirements
- MS/BA/BS in a related field
- 7+ years of technical experience, including at least 3 years in the industry
- 1–2 years of leadership experience
- Strong ability to design and develop SQL and Oracle stored procedures, views, and functions; experience with MS SQL Server preferred
- Extensive, hands‑on experience in designing, developing, and optimizing complex SQL queries, including Oracle stored procedures, views, and functions is required; familiarity with MS SQL Server is preferred.
- Proven, hands‑on experience with Python programming is required; familiarity with additional scripting or object‑oriented languages is desirable.
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts and large-scale database management
- Ability to read and develop in XML, XSLT, CSS, JSON and JavaScript
- Proven experience with Power BI for interactive reports and dashboards
- Strong data visualization skills using Plotly is a plus
- Experience integrating data sources and optimizing performance for large datasets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven track record in technical leadership and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Clinical trial experience is a plus
