Job Description

Senior Architect

9th Way Insignia

• Lead architectural design for modernization of the VA Enrollment System (ES), including migration of legacy monolithic components to microservices. • Guide modernization efforts supporting consolidation of EDB, IVM, and VistA REE functionality into the modernized ES. • Architect solutions aligned with VA technical standards, FedRAMP, FISMA, IRS 1075, and VA security/privacy requirements. • Support enterprise-wide DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native deployments within VAEC. • Develop scalable, secure APIs and services enabling Veteran-facing eligibility and enrollment capabilities. • Provide architectural oversight for data migration, schema modernization, and high-volume transactional processing. • Work closely with Product Lifecycle Teams to ensure roadmap alignment, sprint execution, and delivery quality. • Participate in high-priority production incidents, root cause analysis, and enterprise troubleshooting.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
  • 6+ years relevant experience, with 10 additional years substitutable for education.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale system modernization, cloud migration, or monolith-to-microservices transitions.
  • Experience supporting federal systems or highly regulated environments (VA preferred).
  • Expertise in secure API design, identity management, MFA, OAuth2/OIDC, and zero-trust principles.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools, observability platforms, and automation pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of system interoperability, scalability, performance optimization, and high availability.
