Role Description Welty Energy is looking for a Senior Substation and Transmission (S&T) Estimator to join our Energy team! As a Senior S&T Estimator, you will create utility project estimates, act as an extension of our client and provide best-in-class service. As the Senior, you will be involved with consulting on select projects as well as providing assistance to the Welty Project Management Team and mentoring junior Estimators. This position can be remote in the mainland United States, operating in ET hours. As a Senior S&T Estimator, you may: - Produce Conceptual New Transmission and Distribution Line Routes on a Google Earth KMZ file with pole placements. - Create preliminary project schedules considering lead times, crews, construction durations, siting etc. - Write Scope of Work for conceptual/pre-funding approval projects. - Work with internal substation layout teams for preliminary substation designs. - Create and review substation and transmission/distribution line estimates using Sage and Navigator software. - Work will involve 25kV-765kV Utility Power Equipment for Line and Substation. - Review/Aide supplemental support estimates such as, but not limited to, access roads, forestry, SCADA/IT network, fiber, testing and commissioning, and related. - Coordinate with other scoping and estimating team members, planning and protection engineering, sponsors, regional contacts and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff. - Attend regional meetings with planning, protection and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates. - Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM. - Build accurate project schedule timelines for substation, transmission line and support estimates. Qualifications - High school or GED required. - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical degree is advantageous. - 8+ years of experience in transmission line design, substation design, or utility estimating, specifically focused on Substation and Transmission work. - Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, specifically within Excel. Requirements - Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload while communicating efficiently and effectively with internal and external clients. - Solid understanding of engineering design/drawing packages. Requirements - Manage all on-site construction costs and documentation related activities, subcontractors and vendors. - Prepare purchase order and subcontract drafts for SPM approval. - Purchase and schedule all long lead items. - Obtain all project related permits and licenses from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). - Ensure SWPP and environmental requirements are met. - Review and approve subcontractor and vendor pay requisitions and submit to SPM for final approval. - Implement on-site quality control and adherence to plans and specifications. - Document project progress and update schedule for review. - Complete and submit all field required reports and logs as required. - Take all required project progress photos. - Must be able to successfully manage budgets and schedules of project. - Third party vendor coordination. - Material testing and inspection coordination. - Design team coordination RFIs, ASIs and submittals. - Perform all other related work, as assigned or apparent. • The CDE Commercialization Project Manager will initiate, plan, organize, lead and control cross-functional product and technology projects that are complex and/or medium to large in scope and impact. • Build relationships with Velera’s largest business unit leaders, acting as a point of contact between Client Delivery Experience, Product, Sales and IT. • Responsible for communication, development, commercialization and operationalization of Velera Products and Solutions being delivered to clients. • Perform as a CDE liaison with the product development/lifecycle. • Lead and manage the project lifecycle to efficiently deliver multiple project initiatives. • Partner with product and technology leaders to prioritize initiatives, negotiate financial and resource commitments, confirm availability and build delivery schedules. • Work with CDE, Product and IT to architect, design, prototype and develop solutions that enable quality implementation and improve speed of “on-boarding” solutions. • Assemble project team members; assign individual responsibilities; facilitate meetings and presentations. • Define scope and objectives for complex product releases, with a focus on implementations and operations. • Prioritize requirements for the business. • Establish onboarding requirements and timelines in accordance with Solution Sales goals and market messaging. • Manage the implementation of internal initiatives, major and minor system or product enhancements, client solutions and applicable decommissions. • Deliver effective, accurate, and consistent communication to project teams, management, external clients and vendors. • Understand interdependencies and lead times to develop a comprehensive schedule or priority task plan. • Oversee completion of project tasks, manage conflicts, clarify gaps and escalate risks/issues as needed for improvements. • Provide technology guidance and clarify process gaps. • Work directly with key internal stakeholders and executives to negotiate, escalate, and resolve issues with priority. • Identify changes that impact scope, cost or schedule and initiate the appropriate change control and/or change management process. • Ensure proper documentation is established, maintained and stored for policies, processes and procedures to streamline and optimize client delivery of products and services. • Provide timely reporting of project hours, status, performance, risks and escalations.
