Job Requirements

Role Description The Senior Engineering Designer - Electrical is a factory specific engineering staff position. The SED role is a trade specific design, modeling, and documentation position with a focus on structure, mechanical and HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or fire protection. This electrical-focused role involves cross-functional collaboration with the other design and engineering team members to ensure project, manufacturing, and code requirements are met. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with office standards and project requirements. This role also involves collaboration with various senior team members across the larger organization to optimize project delivery and execution. - Work as an integrated design and engineering team with the Project Designers and Project Architects (PD | PA, SPD | SPAs) to ensure faithful and profitable execution of VBC Projects under direction of Director of Engineering (DME) and in collaboration with designated manufacturing and construction teams. - Utilize BIM software to accurately model electrical components to translate electrical engineering documentation into manufacturing executable files and documentation including but not limited to walls, floors, ceilings, roofs etc. - Coordinate and manage schedule of deliverables for assigned projects while conforming with documented office standards (including engineering BOM deliverables) reporting progress and flagging delays if and when they occur. - Advise and review electrical technical deliverables from engineering sub-consultants for conformity with documented office standards while maintaining project specific requirements. - Document electrical deviations from VBC product and construction standards for larger team visibility. - Maintain electrical BIM files to ensure conformity with office standards. - Generate and record responses to internal and external customer RFIs, revisions, comments, and requests in a professional, timely, and courteous manner. - Assist other Senior D+E Studio Staff in proposing alternate means and methods and code interpretations for review with Chief Design Officer, manufacturing, construction, consultant teams and external code bodies as required. - Propose revisions and improvements to BIM manuals, procedures, Revit template updates and other items as required for incorporation into office modeling and documentation standards. - Support the creation of design, engineering, and manufacturing standards with electrical detail development for continuous improvement and training. - Support with DfMA cross training for design and engineering staff. - Mentor and train junior electrical engineering team members. Qualifications - Minimum associate’s degree or certificate in design, engineering, or building information modeling. - Engineering, Architecture, and/or Construction experience required. - 6-8 Years of experience required. - Experience in component design for modular construction (pre-fabrication experience) is required. - Revit proficiency required; AutoCAD proficiency preferred. - Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required. - Bluebeam Revu proficiency preferred. - Must have foundational knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC). - Must have a positive attitude and be able to function as part of a diverse team. - Must be detail-oriented and organized. - Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. - Must be an independent problem-solver and appreciate a fast-paced work environment. Lead ECAD Designer – Printed Circuit Design

• Perform hands-on ECAD design and layout for complex printed circuit card assemblies, including multilayer rigid and flex designs • Execute and review ECAD documentation packages to ensure compliance with design standards, manufacturability, and quality requirements • Serve as lead checker or peer reviewer for complex ECAD designs and provide constructive feedback to designers • Coach and mentor junior and mid-level ECAD designers on design techniques, standards, and error prevention • Support consistent application of ECAD design standards, documentation practices, and workflow processes • Collaborate with ECAD Leads and project teams to support schedule commitments and design quality objectives • Participate in design reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Configuration Management • Identify recurring design issues and recommend improvements to tools, workflows, or documentation practices • Assist with ECAD library development, maintenance, and adherence to approved standards • Support DFM/DFA analysis and interface with fabrication and assembly partners as needed • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned activities within ECAD • Must be willing and able to up to 10% of the time
• Create accurate and realistic 3D renderings using SketchUp and relevant software. • Apply textures, components, and models (e.g., from SketchUp Warehouse) with efficiency and accuracy. • Interpret and work from CAD drawings (floorplans, elevations, RCPs, lighting/electrical plans). • Ensure scale, proportion, lighting, and design standards are correctly represented. • Identify and fix rendering inconsistencies (e.g., mismatched furniture heights or incorrect materials). • Self-check work and take initiative to resolve unclear specs or visual issues. • Communicate effectively with designers and team members—ask questions when needed. • Meet deadlines with a high level of efficiency and time management. • Make minor design decisions when appropriate based on industry standards (e.g., counter heights, toe kicks, hardware placement).
