Job Description

High Voltage Power Engineer

Intersect Power

• Lead the design, coordination, and technical oversight of HV and MV systems across solar, wind, and battery storage projects • Drive utility interconnection • Optimize substation and transmission designs • Support projects from early development through financing, construction, and commissioning • Provide ongoing technical support to Operations • Ensure assets perform reliably throughout their lifecycle • Collaborate with Development, Permitting, Construction, Finance, Operations, and external EPCs, utilities, and consultants

Job Requirements

  • 8-10 years total experience
  • >=4 years in clean energy project development (interconnection, owner’s engineering/IE oversight, EPC management, commercial negotiations)
  • >=4 years leading HV substation/collector design (345-500 kV)
  • Experience delivering ≥3 utility-scale projects through energization
  • Strong understanding of HV transmission, substation equipment, MV distribution
  • Technical expertise in power system design, optimization, and studies
  • Experience managing interconnection study processes in ERCOT and CAISO
  • Advanced knowledge of steady-state modeling tools such as ETAP, SKP, or DigSILENT
  • Hands-on experience collaborating with EPCs and utilities during design and construction phases
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Solid Excel skills and familiarity with system design trade-offs
  • Experience creating specifications and designs for HV transmission and substation equipment
  • Successfully advanced 5+ projects through CAISO, ERCOT, or SPP interconnection processes
