• Working at the intersection of data engineering and business logic, you will play a critical role in the Data Science and Engineering Department at Upsun. • By transforming vast amounts of raw platform events and business data into high-quality metrics, you enable deeper insights into our customers and internal operations. • You serve as a strategic advisor to both technical and non-technical teams, ensuring that data-driven decision-making is accessible, performant, and reliable across the entire organization. • Your work directly influences how we build our products and scale our global infrastructure. • You will implement models that transform raw data into useful metrics and comprehensive data products. • You will partner with various teams to gather requirements, align methodologies, and advocate for best practices in data consumption. • You will manage data at various scales, including petabyte-level datasets, using efficient and performant techniques. • You will improve our codebase and processes by delivering repeatable, well-documented solutions. • You will help business units understand the impact of specific metrics and the cascading effects on product components. • You will work within a multicultural, remote-first environment that values curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
Job Requirements
- SQL and DBT Expertise: You have experience building and maintaining data models within a production environment.
- Python Familiarity: You are comfortable with Python development for data-related tasks.
- Cloud Data Warehousing: You are familiar with GCP or AWS services such as BigQuery, Redshift, or Athena.
- ETL/ELT Knowledge: You understand which methodologies are best suited for different data scales and business needs.
- Analytical Curiosity: You possess a natural drive to explore data, standardize it, and solve complex business challenges.
- Data Visualization Skills: You have experience using tools like Metabase or Hex to create clear and actionable data products.
- Infrastructure and Tooling: You are familiar with ingestion tools like Fivetran and reverse ETL workflows using Hightouch.
- Version Control: You have prior experience using Git to manage your code and collaborate with others.
- Critical Thinking: You can effectively weigh the tradeoffs of different technical approaches to find the best solution.
