BI Engineer
Syrve
• Development and maintenance of dashboards in Power BI and performing deep analytics in Excel (OLAP cubes). • Writing advanced DAX measures. • Enhancing the analytical data warehouse (DWH). • Designing data models for BI needs, creating new business entities not present in source systems, and performing gradual refactoring of legacy structures. • Developing complex ETL processes in Python (API integrations, parsing, custom scripts). • Maintaining pipelines in Apache Airflow. • Analyzing, reverse-engineering, and optimizing existing data structures. • Writing complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and analyzing T-SQL to understand the structure of MS SQL–based systems. • Configuring and supporting automations in Power Automate (e.g., auto-refreshing Excel reports, Outlook email flows). • Ensuring data consistency, identifying metric discrepancies across CRM databases, and resolving anomalies. • Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong practical experience with Power BI: advanced DAX, data modeling, and Power BI Service administration.
- Confident work with Excel OLAP cubes, including writing formulas and building queries to semantic Power BI models (standard Excel tables alone are not sufficient).
- Strong knowledge of Python for writing complex ETL scripts, working with external APIs, and parsing data (not just maintaining existing DAGs).
- Understanding the architecture of analytical DWHs, including denormalization principles and differences from classical relational databases.
- Confident SQL skills (PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and ability to read T-SQL.
- Readiness to work with legacy: proven ability to analyze someone else's code, unstructured data, and historical databases with limited documentation.
- Understanding of SaaS business metrics, subscription models, and CRM structures (revenue, cohorts, churn logic).
- Basic understanding of Power Automate flows and willingness to learn quickly.
- Proficiency in Russian and English.

- Ability to work both remotely and in the office if desired.

• You will own the full data lifecycle: from extraction and cleaning, through transformation and modeling, to compelling dashboards that surface the insights leaders actually act on. • You'll also layer in automation and AI where they make the data smarter, fresher, and less dependent on manual effort. • Your job is to take fragmented, messy data, spread across disconnected tools and systems, and turn it into a single source of operational truth. • You're embedded in multiple client engagements at a time, owning the data function end-to-end. • You'll identify what data matters, figure out how to get it, clean and structure it, and deliver dashboards and insights that give decision-makers a clear picture of what's happening in their business and what to do about it. • You're not just a report-builder; you're a strategic data partner who can take a business problem, trace it back to the data, and come back with something that changes how leadership operates.
