• Grow a high-performing team of backend engineers, managing career development and fostering a culture of continuous growth and humility. • Manage sprint ceremonies and planning meetings to align team efforts with strategic product goals, maintaining a tight feedback loop between engineering and end-users. • Manage tech debt to an appropriate level in a fast-moving, early stage product. Constantly evaluate the tradeoff between building durable, hardened software and scrappy prototypes. • Manage delivery, scheduling, and timelines to optimize predictability of delivery. • Own the technical direction and architectural discussions for the AISim simulation and data platform, ensuring solutions are maintainable, scalable, and secure. Maintain coordination with other engineering teams where technical decisions have cross-team impacts. • Work closely with researchers, product managers, and internal stakeholders to translate complex scientific requirements into clear technical deliverables and implementation plans. • Remain hands-on with code reviews and critical design decisions, establishing best practices for CI/CD pipelines, API design, and cloud infrastructure.

• Own software development best-practices (CI/CD, testing, observability) in the data domain. • Manage a lean, high-performing team of two, acting as a "player-coach" who can guide a multi-year architecture strategy and provide meaningful feedback on code review. • Set standards for code quality and conduct code reviews for Python (pipelines) and SQL (models). • Own sprint planning, roadmap planning, and delivery predictability for the data team. • Build the data backend that provides actionable insights to half a million students and educators.

• Design, validate, and scale petition creation workflow using AI and experimentation. • Drive the scale-out of the AI petition creation workflow to boost successful petition launches. • Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals. • Provide technical influence, guidance, and feedback to team members. • Support growth of engineers through coaching, regular feedback, and thoughtful career development. • Identify opportunities to improve development processes and workflows. • Participate in on-call rotation.

• Partner with Product, Data Science, Analytics, Security, and experts in the Insurance Operations group to set the strategy for the quarters to come • Establish and evolve a talent strategy that attracts, develops, and retains top-tier engineering talent at all levels • Continuously evaluate the performance and effectiveness of your teams’ process in order to improve things over time • Work closely with senior leaders in Engineering to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering organization as a whole • Develop and ensure execution of technical strategy for your teams and Engineering as a whole to solve clear problems for the business • Foster an environment of high accountability and psychological safety.
