Senior Payroll Accountant – Part-time

• Independently perform the monthly payroll processing • Maintain and review all payroll-relevant master and transaction data • Prepare and submit statutory reports and certificates (e.g., social security, DEÜV, A1) • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements in payroll tax, employment, and social security law • Provide subject-matter assessment of complex payroll-related issues and implement them in an audit-proof manner • Coordinate with HR and Accounting (including payroll accounts, provisions) • Collaborate with tax advisors, authorities, and social insurance institutions • Act as the internal point of contact for all payroll-related questions and support audits and reviews • Support the Accounting team and understand accounting processes under the German Commercial Code (HGB)
Job Requirements
- Several years of experience in operational payroll processing, ideally in a senior or key-user role
- Commercial training or degree with a focus on payroll, accounting, or HR
- Very good knowledge of payroll tax, employment, and social security law
- Solid practical experience in payroll accounting and a basic understanding of HGB accounting
- Experience with payroll and HR systems (ideally DATEV and Personio)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Fluent German, good English skills
- Structured, meticulous working style with a strong focus on quality
- High sense of responsibility, discretion, and strong communication skills
- Advantageous: experience in high-growth or international companies
- Experience in optimizing and automating payroll processes
- Experience working with auditors

GENERAL SUMMARY Under general supervision and reporting to the Payroll Manager, The Payroll Administrator is responsible to perform all activities necessary for multi-state US and international hourly and salaried payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments. The Payroll Administrator will play a critical role in maintaining data integrity, resolving payroll-related issues, and driving process improvements within the organization.
