Regional Vice President, South American Programs

• Strategic direction: the RVP will work with the CDs and any regional staff to take Edify’s overall mission and strategy and prayerfully oversee the development of a clear approach for the region in line with Edify’s overall strategy, and then to lead the implementation of that approach. The RVP is responsible to ensure that the progress towards strategic milestones are tracked, recognised and celebrated- giving thanks to God as the region progresses. The RVP is responsible for scanning the contexts and to lead on any shift in response to changes around them. The RVP is also to take the context and perspective from the region and input that into the global strategy and all global initiatives. • Leadership of the region: the RVP provides leadership and support to the CDs of each of the Operational countries as well as to any regional technical support in creating change in the areas laid out in the Outcomes Map. The RVP will work closely with the CDs to prayerfully set Spirit-led targets and work with the direct reports to strive towards those targets, allowing ‘God space’ that might change the final result. Ensuring that the countries deliver across all the performance metrics, monitoring these closely with the CDs. Ensure that there is consistency across the region where possible, adapting to context within each country, and ensure that learning and progress is discussed and shared within the region and also to other regions. • Budget Oversight: oversee the budgeting and spend of the region (including capital to Financial Institutions), and manage the regional budget. Ensure that budgets and plans reflect the priorities and needs to best meet Edify’s mission- across and within the countries. Ensure that expenses are within budgets, and where there is need to go beyond budget for good reason, that this is managed overall - through savings elsewhere or negotiating additional budget for the region. Ensure that the expenses versus budget is reviewed and analyzed at least quarterly, and that CDs are on top of their expenditures on an ongoing basis. • Ensure appropriate Support: Ensure that each country in the region gets the technical support, and other support that is needed in order for them to function well, be efficient and be in line with the Edify norms and standards. This will involve working with Global technical/ support service leaders, and considering the need for any regional level support. • Leadership development: The RVP is responsible for ensuring that each of their direct reports are equipped to be able to excel in their role and are given the opportunity to learn, grow and develop to their full potential. The RVP is also responsible to ensure that the CDs are developing the next level of leadership within their country teams and that there is opportunity for development throughout the country team. • Focus on Impact: The RVP is responsible to ensure that the focus of the work is on impact towards our overall Vision and Mission, and that the teams collect baseline information and then regularly gather appropriate information to know the impact our work is having in improving and expanding Christ Centered Education. The RVP should ensure that decisions are data informed - ie that appropriate information is gathered and used to inform key decisions about the future. (The decisions themselves should be approached prayerfully and spirit led). • Regional Growth: lead and manage growth of the sub-region in line with desire to reach as many schools as possible while also staying within our capacity to do so with quality and transformation among the schools. Lead the process for identifying new countries from the current associate countries, bringing to SLT at decision points along the process. • Culture and values: lead and shape the culture of the region in line with Edify’s overall culture. Take the lead in demonstrating the values of Edify, and recognise and acknowledge the demonstration of those values amongst the team members within the region. • Connection and relationship across regions: work closely with other RVPs; encouraging, challenging, learning from and sharing ideas with, supporting each other in ways that further the overall Edify mission. • Oversight of the portfolio of Financial Institutional Partners: Maintain a good understanding of the situation of all of the MFIs in the region, and support the CDs to be on top of the portfolio, maintain the relationship with the MFI, and take action as concerns or issues come up. Key will be ensuring that the portfolio reflects serving the schools within Edify’s mission. • Training partners: maintain a good understanding of the portfolio of training partners and consultants across the region, ensuring that CDs maximize the potential of those relationships towards achieving the outcomes laid out in the Outcome Map. Work with other RVP, and Director for Associate Countries, LATAM, to ensure training is developed to serve both the South and Central America regions, maximising efficiency and impact. Seek for opportunities to share and learn across countries and regions from the work that is happening with partners in each individual country. • Understanding of Country Context: develop and maintain a good understanding of the contexts faced by CCE in each country in the region, including understanding of the country's educational environment and the needs and resources to low-cost, independent Christ-centered schools; the legislations issues, banking and audit requirements. Ensure regular visits and connections to schools in each of the countries in order to have the contexts for high level decisions. • Compliance and regulation: ensuring that operational countries comply with country regulations and keep the Edify operations safe from regulatory risks • Program Innovation: Initiate, champion, create the environment for, and support program innovations that will position Edify as a change leader in the Christ-Centered education space. Work with Country Directors to pilot such solutions with clear data informed demonstration of effectiveness for potential adoption into the Edify mainstream program. • External Representation & Advocacy: Serve as a key ambassador for Edify within the region, building strategic relationships with external stakeholders, government bodies, and educational networks to advance the mission of Christ-centered education.
Job Requirements
- Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to Edify's mission and vision.
- At least ten years' experience in private enterprise businesses, educational organizations (at managerial level), international development or economic development work.
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Management, Education, Finance, International Development, or related field.
- Knowledge of Finance and/or Microfinance operations.
- Strong leadership, development, and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong team player attitude.
- Strong multicultural work attitude.
- Personal maturity and capacity to build and maintain harmonious personal relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to be able to manage difficult situations and make tough decisions when required.
- Organized and methodical working (effective time management, prioritization of competing demands and multiple deadlines).
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite/ Google suite (Excel/ sheets, Word/ docs, PowerPoint/ slideshow, etc.)
