About The Role We’re looking for an experienced staff engineer to help build Lob’s platform for our next stage of growth. You will have a profound impact on the engineering org’s technical strategy and velocity, ensuring that people are able to move faster through technology. You’ll leverage existing technologies and bring some opinions of your own to the discussion to improve the engineering ecosystem. You will also be a source of coaching and mentoring for our team members and will help us to hire and retain a team of engaged and thriving engineers. Some projects to get excited about: - Creating reusable patterns to simplify builds and releases - Consolidating deployment tooling and improving CI/CD capabilities - Implementing edge services leveraging caching, authentication, and circuit breakers across the platform - Creating and maintaining reference architectures to launch production-ready services - Implementing distributed tracing and iterating on service observability - Collaborating with feature teams across the org to migrate container orchestrators, adopting and deploying with Hashicorp Nomad As a Staff Engineer, you’ll... - Be a chief advisor to the future build of Lob’s platform and its capabilities - Be responsible for leading projects from design to implementation - Coordinate and facilitate the execution of strategic initiatives within the team as well as cross functionally - Coach and mentor other engineers on the team about best practices around platform architecture and general DevOps philosophy and implementation - Embed with other engineering teams to help adoption of new technologies, and contribute to solving complex problems spanning multiple domains - Work with engineering teams across the organization, improving tooling, process, internal developer experience, automation, and the entire engineering ecosystem What you will bring to this role... - You are a veteran in the software and platform engineering space with deep experience around cloud services and site reliability - You are a master of telemetry and observability - Shipped large, complex, business-impacting software projects for which you were the primary/lead technical designer or architect - Experience with one or more of the following languages: Javascript, GoLang, Python; Bonus points if GoLang - Experience with integrating one or more of the following technologies into architectures and best practices with them: Nomad, Terraform, Consul, Datadog, SNS/SQS, Redis, Postgres, Aurora, Lambda, etc - Experience with at least one public cloud vendor (AWS preferred) - Grown others around you through coaching, mentoring, and leading and can give examples of how you’ve done it - You’re Curious, Compassionate, Committed, and Passionate about your craft and can share that with others Since great engineers come from a variety of backgrounds, it doesn’t particularly matter if you have a specific degree—we want to hear about your contributions in a real-world setting. Compensation information The compensation for this role consists of a base salary + additional RSUs. Role Description We are looking for a Research Compute Platform Engineer to design and build the next generation of Secure Compute Environments (SAFE) across AWS and GCP. This role focuses on developing new platform capabilities, establishing scalable and secure patterns, and enabling smooth handoff to SysOps for production rollout and ongoing operations. This is a platform design and implementation role: you will define how systems should work, ensure they scale across multiple environments, and package them for reliable operation by others. Overview ViaPath is seeking a Principal-level Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the core infrastructure and developer platforms that power our products. This role is highly hands-on and technical, with ownership across Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automation, observability, and reliability in a hybrid environment spanning public cloud and on-premises data centers. You will serve as a technical leader, partnering closely with application engineering, security, data, and operations teams to improve scalability, reliability, and developer productivity. This is a remote based position based in West Virginia.
