Role Description Level 3 (Lead) Network Installation Technician employees are assigned responsibilities involving the supervision of others in the installation, test and turn-up of telecommunication equipment and related components. This includes assignment and review of work, assessment of performance, ensuring completion of assigned projects or activities, and providing training or assistance as needed. Leads are responsible for coordination and communication with team members to coordinate dispatches, assure quality control of installation efforts, and delegation of responsibilities for completion of final customer deliverables including documentation. No supervision is necessary to complete installation efforts. Responsibilities - Direct, task, and organize a team of 1 to 2 Network Installation Technicians from deployment to installation close-out. - Infrastructure installation and de-installation (racks, ironwork). - Cable management to include cable terminations, cleaning and testing. - Grounding. - Utilize baseline equipment connectivity diagrams to resolve site specific connectivity challenges. - Communicate with Test and Acceptance staff to ensure remote access to network devices. - Hardware/software installation of networking components including pre-commissioning hardware with base configurations. - Circuit wiring, inspection, testing, and activation. - Network node decommissioning and de-installation. - Manage completion reports and status reports providing detailed documentation of network configuration. - Equipment installations that include network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic material, switches, firewalls, and timing and synchronization. - Conduct Optical Testing. - Fiber optic characterization. - Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). - Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD). - Chromatic Dispersion (CD). - Review results, identify issues and provide recommended solutions. - Train and mentor more junior personnel in all the above. - Perform small to large sized installations with minimal oversight.
