Job Description
Proposal Writer – EHS Compliance Services
CDMS
• Conduct client conversations for routine proposals including discovery calls, scope clarification, and follow-up discussions • Write clear, technically accurate proposals for CDMS services including air quality permitting, hazardous materials management, stormwater compliance, and safety consulting • Handle routine client inquiries and proposal requests independently from initial contact through submission • Collaborate with senior sales consultants on complex proposals, long-term contracts, and strategic client opportunities • Research California environmental regulations (EPA, DTSC, CUPAs, Water Boards, Air Districts) to support accurate proposal content • Draft professional client communications including emails, follow-up letters, and service agreements • Present CDMS services and capabilities to prospective clients during routine sales conversations • Coordinate with technical staff to gather project details, timelines, and pricing information for proposals • Maintain proposal templates and standard language library for efficient proposal development • Track proposal submissions, follow up on pending opportunities, and manage client communication timeline • Update and maintain client database and proposal tracking systems • Learn California compliance requirements and CDMS service offerings to improve proposal quality and client conversations over time
Job Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in environmental consulting, safety compliance, or EHS operations
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety Management, or related technical field (required)
- Technical background in environmental or safety compliance (experience with permits, audits, or regulatory documentation)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (professional business level required)
- Strong ability to understand and explain technical regulatory concepts to clients
- Experience writing technical proposals, reports, or regulatory documentation
- Comfortable conducting client conversations and answering technical questions
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, professional documents
- Ability to work independently on routine proposals while knowing when to involve senior team
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (California regulations a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience working with US-based clients highly valued
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to manage multiple proposal deadlines and client conversations simultaneously

• This position serves as the primary writer and editor for content for ABEM publications. • It involves consistent copywriting skills, ensuring the uniformity of ABEM's style across all print and digital materials utilized both internally and externally. • The position is responsible for crafting communications on behalf of the organization and the Board of Directors, which includes content strategy, messaging, and the production of publications, media releases, and web-based materials. • The writer and editor will develop copy in various styles, including formal, technical, and marketing, customized to align with the target audience and intended objectives. • Additionally, this role collaborates closely with executive leadership to stay current on initiatives and programs at ABEM to develop effective messaging and talking points that support the organization. • This position oversees complex review and publication schedules, maintenance strategies, and the systematic organization of content, documents, and media lists. • Writes and manages technical and editorial materials for ABEM publications, external publications, and the ABEM website. • Materials include articles, press releases, talking points, FAQs, newsletters, annual reports, Board and leadership presentations, messaging to other organizations, and other miscellaneous projects. • Executes communications plans for ABEM publications and organization-wide projects, including content development, review and editing timelines, sequencing, and monitoring of deadlines. • Edits materials for content and ABEM style, including ABEM publications (e.g., Annual Report, newsletter), website materials, other materials upon writer request, presentations (cross-office), and email blasts. • Maintains ABEM Style Guide. • Manages ABEM presentation library and updates ABEM presentations. • Maintains current content, develops new content, and manages reviews and revisions. • Manages the content for the Residency Visitation Program (RVP). • Maintains and updates program materials including slide presentations, slide libraries, videos, and other media content used in RVP presentations. • Maintains RVP BoardEffect webpage. • Produces materials and maintains content for the website, including monitoring and auditing the accuracy, currency, and consistency of content. • Initiates and coordinates the updating of cyclical and time-sensitive information. • Serves as the agenda coordinator for the Communication Committee meetings; drafts agenda books; prepares summaries as needed; and provides appropriate meeting follow-up. • Writes and edits scripts, interviews, and editorials featuring ABEM-certified physicians, volunteers, and Directors.
