Sales Development Representative - Tampa
Trellis Technologies
About Trellis Trellis is rewriting the insurance experience from the inside out. We’re the tech company behind Savvy, our licensed insurance agency, and we’re bringing clarity and ease to a space known for… the opposite. With powerful tools, clean design, and a customer-first mindset, we’re making insurance shopping refreshingly effortless. We’re a profitable, fast-growing Series A startup backed by General Catalyst, QED, NYCA, and Amex Ventures. As a remote-first team, we move quickly, experiment boldly, and build with intention. If you’re craving meaningful impact, energized by ambiguity, and are ready to build alongside exceptional teammates, you’re going to love doing your best work at Trellis. About the Role Are you a strong salesperson looking to break into the insurance industry and build a career in sales? At Savvy, the Sales Development Representative (SDR) role is the first step in our sales career path. SDRs work directly with prospective customers to validate insurance inquiries and prepare them for conversations with our licensed sales agents. This role is designed for motivated salespeople who want to develop their skills, learn the insurance industry, and earn the opportunity to become a licensed insurance agent. Top-performing SDRs can move into a Licensed Sales Agent role, where they advise customers, quote policies, and earn commission. Savvy supports this transition by covering licensing costs and providing training. What You’ll Do As an SDR, you’ll be the first human touchpoint for customers shopping for insurance. Your job is to understand the customer’s needs, validate their information, and prepare them for a licensed agent. Key responsibilities include: - Speak with inbound leads and confirm intent, budget, and timeline - Validate and update customer information including household, vehicle, and property details - Collect missing information required for quoting and underwriting - Use internal tools to determine the appropriate next step for each lead - Transfer qualified customers to licensed sales agents This role is focused on customer conversations, qualification, and sales preparation, not quoting or advising on insurance policies. What You Bring to the Table We’re looking for individuals who are naturally strong communicators and motivated to build a career in sales. You may be a great fit if you: - Love talking to customers and building rapport quickly - Are competitive and motivated by performance and growth opportunities - Thrive in fast-paced environments with high customer interaction - Pay close attention to details and follow structured processes - Are comfortable working with multiple systems and tools Experience in sales, customer service, or high-volume customer interactions is helpful but not required. Most importantly, you should be excited about building a long-term career in sales and growing into a licensed insurance agent. What You’ll Earn & How You Grow As an SDR, you’ll earn a competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives tied to your ability to engage customers and deliver qualified opportunities to the sales team. Top-performing SDRs can transition into a Licensed Sales Agent role, where Savvy will: - Cover the cost of your insurance exam and licensing - Providing training and mentorship from experienced sales leaders - Offer a clear path from SDR → Licensed Sales Agent Our licensed sales agents have uncapped earning potential - top performers consistently earn $100K+ - some break $160K! For motivated salespeople, this role provides a clear path to build expertise in the insurance industry and significantly grow your earning potential. Why Trellis? Because you deserve a career that’s exciting, meaningful, and surrounded by people who lift you up. We’re a group of curious, mission-driven humans rewriting the insurance experience and having a lot of fun along the way. At Trellis, you’ll make a real impact on a product millions rely on, and grow alongside a company that’s scaling fast. What sets Trellis apart: ✨ A transparent, collaborative culture where ideas win, not titles 🚀 Big opportunities to take ownership and chart your growth 💰 Competitive compensation (75th+ percentile) 🏡 Fully remote across the US & Canada 🎉 Quarterly virtual and/or in-person events that keep us connected Plus, the benefits are built to support your whole life: 🌴 Flexible vacation (yes, actually flexible) 🩺 Health insurance starts day one 🧘 Wellness programming, because balance matters 💸 401(k) and HSA contributions, FSAs, bonuses & equity opportunities 🐣 Paid parental leave 👉 If you want a role where you’ll grow, be trusted, and build something that genuinely improves people’s lives, Trellis is the place. Join us. We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
