• Support Canva’s global business activities and expansion with advice on export controls, sanctions and other regulatory matters as relevant • Be the first point of contact for the business and the legal team for subject matter expertise • Monitor the regulatory landscape for new or changing export control and sanctions laws • Help business stakeholders, team members, product managers, and engineers to evaluate the impact of export and sanctions laws on business operations and strategically respond to changes • Implement, monitor and report on export control and sanctions compliance programs • Advise on escalations from routine vendor due diligence • Support with Canva-wide export controls and sanctions legal training and awareness initiatives • Help us redefine the role of in-house counsel - build tools and processes for continued growth and success
Job Requirements
- Legally qualified (AUS/NZ, UK, EU or US bar admission)
- At least 5-7 years practicing law with some experience in-house, preferably in a global technology company
- Demonstrated experience of providing legal advice on export controls and sanctions regulations to rapidly growing technology companies, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and sanctions regulations promulgated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
- Demonstrated experience with providing comprehensive advice on the extraterritorial application of US rules and how they interact with other countries' regulations
- Demonstrated experience of developing, implementing, and updating compliance policies and training programs relating to export controls and sanctions
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and compliance audits related to export controls and sanctions
- Conduct legal due diligence on corporate transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions and investments, to identify and mitigate sanctions and export control risks
- Prior experience working with AI and using it to drive efficiency in your work
- ECoP, CGTLP or similar certifications are a plus

Role Description IonQ is seeking a go-getter Patent and IP attorney who will serve as a critical business partner to support one or more IONQ businesses. You will take personal responsibility for outcomes and demonstrate an owner's mentality in developing and executing our global IP strategy, aligning legal strategy with core business objectives. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in Quantum-relevant technologies, such as physics and electrical engineering, coupled with patent, IP, and general legal expertise. A pro-active approach to intellectual property, portfolio management, and business-driven risk management is a must. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong bias for action, moving swiftly from idea to implementation, and will embody a pioneer and break barriers mindset by challenging existing paradigms and driving continuous progress in the quantum space. Responsibilities - Patent Program Development & Ongoing Leadership: Build and maintain effective patent programs, including harvesting novel inventions and managing patent committees to ensure maximum value and alignment with long-term financial stability. - Prosecution: Prosecute patents for key technologies. Oversee the preparation, filing, and prosecution of complex U.S. and international patent applications related to quantum technologies. - IP Portfolio Management: Support the development, execution, and optimization of our global IP strategy, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Manage and direct our patent pipeline by soliciting/developing invention disclosures, conducting inventor interviews, and presenting disclosures at cross-functional patent committee meetings. - Benchmarking and Competitive Analysis: Drive patent/industry landscaping and competitive analysis projects, supporting business goals and influencing IP strategies. - Client Services & Collaboration: Act as a primary IP legal partner for engineering, R&D, and product teams, providing practical and business-oriented advice. Job ID The approximate base salary range for this position is $195,349 - $254,742. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity. Role Description The General Counsel of Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) reports to the Chief Operating Officer and serves as the legal counsel to the organization's leadership. The General Counsel is an expert on employment law and laws affecting non-profit advocacy organizations and will partner with Amnesty's senior leadership to develop a strong legal framework in support of our organizational effectiveness, innovation, compliance and risk mitigation. The General Counsel proactively supports the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in relationships and collaboration with the global organization, Amnesty International (AI), and external partners.
