About the role: Our client is seeking a Bilingual Intake Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for potential clients. This role is critical in criminal defense, where timely response and accurate information gathering directly impact case outcomes. The position combines intake, information process, client follow-ups, and more. The ideal candidate is, confident handling sensitive situations, and highly detail-oriented to ensure precise case documentation. US Law firm experience is preferred. What you’ll be doing: - Answer incoming calls and respond to urgent client inquiries professionally and calmly. - Conduct structured intake interviews for criminal defense matters, gathering detailed and accurate case information. - Enter, update, and manage client data in case management software such as Filevine or Clio. - Assess urgency and ensure critical matters are escalated appropriately. - Schedule follow-ups and maintain consistent communication with prospective and active clients. - Provide receptionist support, including call routing, message taking, and email responses. - Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with firm procedures. Who are we looking for? - 2+ years of experience in legal intake, criminal defense case management, or receptionist roles within a US law firm. - Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written). - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple calls and tasks simultaneously. - Experience using Filevine, Clio, or similar legal case management systems. - Ability to remain empathetic, calm, and professional when handling distressed or urgent callers. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) is a dynamic, nonprofit organization that works at the intersection of human rights and the environment. CIEL is comprised of attorneys, campaigners, researchers, and communicators who have extensive experience in leading international strategies to advance everyone’s right to a healthy environment. Many of our program areas explore innovative developments in international environmental law and human rights, including in their direct link with other international legal fields, such as international investment law or international trade law. Our legal internship program offers a unique opportunity for law students to develop skills in the field of international environmental law, and using legal strategies to protect human rights and the environment. Learning from and supervised by a diverse staff of experts and attorneys, internships offer insight into innovative developments in international environmental law and human rights, by honing thoughtful and creative research and analysis.
