Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks or system errors. - Patching & Upgrades: Plan and execute Appian software upgrades, hotfixes, and patch management in alignment with vendor releases and internal maintenance windows. - Capacity Planning: Analyze usage trends and system loads to forecast infrastructure needs and scale environments appropriately. - Security, Compliance, & Governance: - Access Management: Administer user provisioning, roles, groups, and permissions within the Appian environment, ensuring adherence to the principle of least privilege. - Security Audits: Monitor platform security, manage SSL certificates, and ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulations (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, depending on industry). - Best Practices: Establish and enforce Appian architectural and administrative best practices, acting as the primary gatekeeper for code quality and platform governance. - Collaboration & Mentorship: - Partner closely with Appian developers, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to streamline the software development lifecycle. - Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to junior administrators and development teams. Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. - Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Appian platform administration (installation, configuration, maintenance) and 2+ years of dedicated experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and release management. - DevOps Expertise: Proven experience setting up continuous integration and deployment pipelines specifically for Appian. Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD orchestrators (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.). - Infrastructure Skills: Strong working knowledge of Linux/Windows server administration, Apache Tomcat, and web servers (IIS/Apache). - Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and data source configurations within Appian. - Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate administrative and deployment tasks. - Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex server, network, or application issues under pressure. Desired Qualifications - Active Appian Certification (e.g., Appian Certified Senior Developer, Lead Developer, or specific administrative certifications). - Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible). - Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) if managing self-managed cloud infrastructure, or experience directly managing Appian Cloud environments. Requirements - Must be a US citizen and/or green card holder and be able to obtain Public Trust clearance. - Prior FDA experience is a plus. Benefits - The company offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) and a range of other voluntary benefits. - Paid Time Off (PTO) is offered to regular full-time and part-time employees. Company Description Akima Data Management (ADM), an Akima company, is not just another federal IT contractor.
