Regional Engineering Manager

• Manage Project Development efforts in an assigned region and coordinates those efforts with the business development leadership in that region. • Leads project development efforts in an assigned region. • Supervises, trains, and mentors one or more Project Development Engineers. • Creates annual goals, career plans and regular check ins with direct reports. • Performs preliminary and conceptual engineering tasks and important preliminary engineering work such as energy analysis and modeling efficiently and accurately. • Support business development activities which lead to award of the contract including client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal preparation support, oral presentation support, and contract negotiation. • Works with business development team to pre-qualify projects before committing resources for tasks such as a Preliminary Assessment. • Coordinates with pre-construction team to obtain project development budget estimates for Preliminary Audit & IGA Stages. • Clearly set expectations with business development team on deliverables and manages the project development team to meet these expectations in an efficient manner. • Manage the use of Smartsheet and tasks for anything related to Project Development. • Track deadlines, targets, and budgets on projects in the Preliminary and Design stages. • Extracts engineering information from drawings. • Supports engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. • Supports construction management & commissioning teams by providing data required to estimate and qualify constructability and costs. • Coordinates with internal and external designers on a variety of design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for RFP, procurement, and construction purposes. • Manages overall deliverables and development schedule. • Maintain a pool of partners and design consultants for project development. • Researches, studies, and proposes use of new and emerging technologies to be used in the development of new projects. • Enforce the proper use of development engineering criteria and maintains high quality standards of project development deliverables. • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures. • Manages client expectations throughout the preliminary and design phases and coordinates with the design, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure that the design, procurement, and commissioning strategies limit scope creep and are capable of profitably delivering the required scope within the client’s budget. • Evaluates designs for performance and conformance with the original project intent and client expectations. • Supports the design team in the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, bills of material, and equipment selections by providing needed data and guidance about the scope and original project intent. • Conduct duties consistent with the Company’s vision and purpose, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures. • Support technical bid analyses and construction administration tasks such as answering Requests for Information and providing data and documentation needed for project close-out. • Coordinates with the design team on the development of project specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents to ensure conformance with the original project intent and client expectations. • Provides general guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Energy Engineers working on the same project. • May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or a related field of engineering is required.
  • PE is preferred.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive project development experience.
  • Experience in Public Sector energy engineering with Cities, Counties and School Districts preferred.
  • Excellent initiative, and interpersonal communications skills required.
  • Demonstrates engineering and analytical acumen to develop complex solutions and build credibility.
  • Experience working on complex projects and interdisciplinary teams of professionals.
  • Moderate regional travel required with possibility of limited national travel; overnight travel about 20%.
