Validation Engineer II
KPI Solutions
Executes mid-level validation activities including protocol writing, testing, and documentation review across project phases. Key Responsibilities: · Author and execute IQ/OQ protocols and support PQ activities as assigned. · Primary execution owner for complex validation activities · Executes End-to-End Validation and Performance Qualification · Mentors Validation Engineer 1s · Participate in planning and engineering phase deliverables (BRD/FSD reviews). · Collaborate with controls and electrical engineering to develop the controls DOO for automation systems · Support installation qualification activities (static and dynamic IQ). · Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure validation readiness. · Lead software integration and validation of automation systems · Develop and support end-to-end software and hardware integration test plans · Execute end-to-end system OQ and PQ testing at project sites · Assist software delivery teams with test plans validating interfaces between: Customer Systems ↔ KPI Software ↔ Hardware · Prepare Validation Summary Reports and manage defect resolution through completion
Job Requirements
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or computer sciences.
- 3–5 years experience in validation or commissioning roles.
- Working knowledge of automation systems and testing practices.
- Focus on controls design, systems integration, and system validation
- Collaborate with Controls Engineering on controls design and system frameworks
- Assist with vendor integration requirements
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience executing validation for automation systems.
- Familiarity with Siemens, Rockwell, or similar control platforms.
- Familiarity with SCADA control systems, i.e. Ignition
- Exposure to FAT/SAT testing.

At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies. The Senior Project Engineer I is responsible for technical compliance on renewable energy projects, including large-scale, complex Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar PV systems 5MW and larger. This role involves engineering functional ownership and oversight of the technical deliverables during the execution/construction phase of a project. This position will be a part of the operations function under the project engineering department and serve as the key technical resource on the construction project team. This is an individual contributor role and therefore does not have any direct reports but will exercise informal mentorship and guidance to junior level staff. What You’ll Do Project Execution (75%) o Perform technical evaluation and selection of Owner's engineering services. o Lead utility, regulatory and AHJ interface during construction. o Perform detailed engineering design analysis, reviews and issue approvals on third-party design deliverables. o Support interconnection and permitting processes with technical documentation and interfacing with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) during project construction. o Perform factory and project site visits as needed in support of project construction activities. o Lead quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) process to ensure that project is delivered in accordance to project specifications for system design, equipment, and field implementation. o Provide technical guidance during site acceptance testing and commissioning. Technical Oversight (10%) o Develop specifications and perform technical evaluations to support final selection of BESS/PV technology and major equipment. o Ensure engineering design compliance with industry codes and standards. o Provide functional subject matter expertise to project team e.g core proficiency in transmission-level design, codes and standards, BESS technology, PV design, power systems protection and relaying, etc. o Provide technical input to engineering design standards as requested. Collaboration (10%) o Work cross-functionally to contribute to improvement for existing processes and support implementation of approved methods, tools and best practices for the execution of safe, quality and high-performance projects. o Provide effective communication of project performance to stakeholders using appropriate presentation tools. o Collaborate with junior engineering team members by sharing knowledge and providing feedback when requested.
