Circulation Supervisor

Title: Part-Time Evening Circulation Supervisor Location: San Antonio Tx United States The Part Time Circulation Supervisor will foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive learning environment at the Sarita Kenedy East Law Library by circulating materials, staffing circulation desk, managing study rooms, and acting as a liaison with University police to resolve and report safety or security concerns. This position works evenings and weekend and works together with the daytime circulation supervisor to manage the part-time student employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Works the circulation desk during evening and weekends which involves assisting patrons by answering questions, locating library materials, conducting library and internet research, helping patrons who use the computers, and managing study rooms. - Assists with supervising student workers by providing individual training, scheduling, coordinating staffing needs, ensuring work is carried out appropriately and evaluating work as necessary. - Resolves patron issues or complaints, escalating issues as needed; reports security or safety concerns to University Police as necessary. - Shelves books, periodicals, and other materials; assists with Loose Leaf filing. - Provides media services assistance (sets up audio/visual, computer and other presentation equipment) - Keeps the media and audio/visual equipment in good working order. - Assumes responsibility for the building and secures the building at closing time; performs regular rounds of the library to monitor the safety and security of patrons, collections, University property and the facility. - Requires and maintains professionalism of all library patrons including maintaining a neat, quiet study environment, may remind patrons of Library rules. - Secures and closes the library and carries out all closing procedures by performing door counts, making final rounds of library, securing doors and ensuring all closing/departure procedures are followed. - Assists with rearranging tables, chairs, furniture in the library and may provide general maintenance and sanitizing for appearance and ensuring everything in good repair. - Provides support with various clerical tasks that assist with the delivery of customer service to patrons. - Participates in departmental shared tasks, assignments and projects as required. - Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma/GED is required, some college level coursework or Associates Degree preferred. - 1-2 years of work experience; experience in an academic or law library preferred. - Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance. - Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance, and personal injury insurance, or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis. - Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning, nights, weekends, and Holidays to accommodate University events and projects. - Must have the ability to demonstrate basic to intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). - Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; ability to work effectively with communities across the university. - Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; display solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; work well independently and as part of a team. - Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines. - Knowledgeable of best practices in library filing and/or stacks maintenance is preferred.
