Job Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and architecture, with a focus on cloud-native ecosystems.
- Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse), Azure SQL Database, and SQL Managed Instances.
- Practical experience with at least one additional major cloud data platform: Snowflake or Databricks.
- Expert-level mastery of SQL and SQL Stored Procedures for complex business logic, performance tuning, and database administration.
- Proven track record implementing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and Star Schemas for analytical reporting.
- Experience designing systems that handle bi-temporal data (tracking both valid time and transaction time) to maintain historical accuracy.
- Expert in pulling data into Azure Landing Zones, including: Implementing robust watermarking and incremental loading patterns. Data deduplication, cleansing, and schema enforcement. Promoting data from landing to a refined Silver layer.
- Experience configuring and optimizing data sources for Excel, Power BI (including DirectLake), and Tableau.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our engineering team to help us manage our diverse and growing set of initiatives. This is a fully remote, 40-hour per week contract position with the opportunity to shape the future of advertising technology. This position is a contract role and can work remotely anywhere in the US or outside of the US. They should be willing and open to collaborate with our US based engineering team during their business hours. Role Description - Deep, hands-on experience working with Azure Cost Management and Billing data in real production environments. - Strong understanding of how Azure billing maps to actual infrastructure, including VM sizes and series, managed disks, storage tiers, networking charges, and platform services. - Proven experience advising on and implementing Azure Reservations and Azure Savings Plans, including nuanced handling of fees, usage, and eligible SKUs. - Experience classifying and normalizing large volumes of Azure SKUs into logical product hierarchies suitable for FinOps and analytics use cases. - Ability to read, review, and reason about SQL and/or KQL used for billing data transformation, with the capability to contribute hands on when required. - Prior experience in FinOps, cloud economics, cloud billing, or cost and usage analytics roles. - Comfortable operating in a senior advisory capacity within a staff augmentation engagement.
