This role is critical to shaping, governing, and modernizing enterprise architectures that support VA financial management, benefits processing, and healthcare data exchange. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in federal financial systems, VA architecture frameworks, healthcare claims (X12/HL7), and large-scale enterprise integrations, with the ability to translate VA business strategy into secure, scalable technical solutions. Position Overview As an Enterprise Architect supporting VA FSC programs, you will lead architecture efforts across financial management systems, claims processing platforms, and enterprise integrations, ensuring alignment with VA standards, federal EA frameworks, and modernization initiatives. You will collaborate with engineers, product owners, financial analysts, healthcare SMEs, and government stakeholders using Agile / Scrum methodologies to design and implement compliant, future-ready solutions. Key Responsibilities VA Enterprise Architecture & Strategy - Lead architecture efforts across Business, Application, Data, Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, AI/GenAI, and Governance domains in support of VA FSC and iFAMS initiatives. - Translate VA and FSC mission goals, financial operations, and claims-processing strategies into enterprise technical roadmaps. - Establish and maintain VA-aligned enterprise design patterns, reference architectures, and solution standards. iFAMS & VA Financial Systems Architecture - Provide architecture leadership for iFAMS financial management systems, including: - Financial processing - API integrations - Data flows and governance - Design and review architectures supporting VA financial operations, payroll, accounting, and funds control. - Support capital planning, IT investment management, and CPIC activities from an EA perspective. - Conduct alternatives analysis and risk assessments for financial system modernization initiatives. Healthcare Claims & Integration Architecture - Design and govern architectures supporting VA healthcare claims processing, including: - X12 and HL7 transaction flows - Integration with external trading partners - Secure data exchange models - Lead API and integration design for IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, supporting healthcare claims and financial transaction processing. - Ensure compliance with VA, federal, and healthcare interoperability standards. Cloud, Hybrid & Modernization Initiatives - Architect legacy-to-cloud transition strategies for VA financial and claims systems. - Design hybrid and multi-cloud solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments. - Support modernization efforts involving GenAI, AI chatbots, and advanced analytics for VA enterprise systems. - Establish architecture standards for scalability, security, resiliency, and performance. Governance, Delivery & Leadership - Lead and participate in architecture reviews, recommending improvements to system design and integrations. - Define and enforce EA governance standards, including documentation, review gates, and compliance checkpoints. - Produce and maintain high-quality EA artifacts, including: - Architecture domain diagrams - Logical and physical solution designs - Business Enterprise Architecture Assessments - Mentor architects and engineers while fostering a collaborative, mission-focused team environment. - Communicate clearly with VA stakeholders, leadership, and technical teams. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or related field. - Eight (8) years of relevant experience may substitute for education. - Minimum 10 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture or senior solution architecture roles. - Demonstrated experience supporting VA, FSC, or federal financial systems. - Strong knowledge of: - iFAMS - VA financial operations - Healthcare claims processing systems - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Own the mechanical integration of camera + lens + lighting into customer automation machines • Review machine builder CAD (2D/3D) and sign off on designs that meet Overview.ai integration standards. • Provide direct, practical feedback to machine builders to improve designs before metal is cut • Specify integration requirements and best practices • Anticipate long-term failure modes and design them out • Own commissioning readiness: ensure mechanical design supports stable triggering, repeatable imaging, and rapid service • Support new line deployments and maintain/optimize systems already installed at customer sites • Diagnose issues that look “AI” but are actually mechanical/system integration problems • Train customer teams and machine builders on integration best practices and basic troubleshooting • Document field learnings and turn them into repeatable standards, checklists, and reference designs.

• Design and oversee the development of scalable generative AI systems and enterprise-grade AI platforms. Establish robust architectures that support model training, inference, monitoring, and lifecycle management in production environments. • Direct the selection, customization, and enhancement of state-of-the-art generative AI and large language models. • Develop and execute APIs, microservices, and integration frameworks to incorporate AI capabilities into enterprise applications. • Ensure that AI platforms meet stringent standards for performance, reliability, security, and scalability, while also adhering to data governance and privacy regulations. • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to outline technical requirements and approaches to AI architecture. • Architect end-to-end pipelines for deploying and monitoring AI models, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. • Guide architectural decisions for LLM applications, AI workflows, and distributed AI infrastructure. • Institute best practices for ethical AI development, including strategies to mitigate risks like model hallucinations, bias, and reliability challenges. • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering teams, while contributing to the formulation of long-term technology strategies and the advancement of AI platforms.
