Software Engineer – EHR EPIC Integration Lead

• Oversee end-to-end integration initiatives, including Epic-related interfaces, ensuring alignment with business goals, technical requirements, and timelines. • Serve as the Epic Interface Analyst, managing the development, configuration, and support of interfaces using Epic Bridges or related tools. • Connectivity, Field-by-Field, Unit, Mapped Record, and integration Testing. • Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices for communication between internal and external systems, including Epic interfaces. • Manage HL7 and FHIR API integrations in Epic. • Manage and implement EDI integrations, ensuring smooth data exchange with external trading partners and clients. • Lead data integration efforts, ensuring accurate transformation, validation, and mapping of data between systems, including Epic data feeds. • Provide expert guidance to the integration team on API, EDI, and data integration best practices. • Collaborate with business, IT, and clinical stakeholders to define integration architecture and design scalable solutions, particularly within the Epic environment. • Work closely with external vendors and third-party partners to manage integrations with Epic and other systems. • Identify and resolve integration and interface issues, working closely with development, support, and operations teams. • Maintain thorough documentation for all integration processes, including Epic interface specifications, workflows, and technical specifications. • Ensure that all integration and interface solutions comply with industry standards, security protocols, and data privacy regulations.
Job Requirements
- EHR interface experience needed!
- Experience with API management platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for integration processes.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in integration roles, with significant exposure to HL7 and FHIR API/Services, EDI, and data integration.
- Experience working as an Epic Interface Analyst with experience of at least 1 Interface engine like Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or MuleSoft is required.
- Experience in Epic Interfaces for Eligibility (ANSI/X12), Authorization (ANSI/X12), Claims (ANSI/X12), E-Prescribing, and Financial Transactions.
- Experience in Epic Public APIs such as Computer-Telephony Integration, Credit Card Device and Payment Gateway, Printing/Faxing.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific integration standards, including HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA requirements.
- Building integrations using SOAP and RESTful Web Services, JDBC database connections using SQL and stored procedures, and vendor specified APIs.
- Working experience of Interface Engine and integration with Epic PMS.
- Strong proficiency in API development using REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML.
- Extensive knowledge of EDI standards (e.g., X12, EDIFACT) and integration with trading partners, especially in healthcare transactions (837, 835, 270/271).
- Proven experience with data integration platforms and ETL processes (e.g., Rhapsody, MuleSoft).
- Experience with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) standards.
- Experience with Epic integration tools, such as Epic Bridges and Interconnect.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and integration solutions for Epic on cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience working with Epic's interface engine, interface configuration, and integration best practices using Epic Bridges.
- Proficiency in handling data transformations, mappings, and validations across different formats and systems.
- Epic Certification in relevant modules (Epic Bridges certification) preferred.
