Truckload Transportation Coordinator

• Plan and book daily truckload movements • Dynamically adjust truck size, routing, and consolidation decisions based on volume, cut times, and service requirements • Ensure loads are tendered, accepted, dispatched, and delivered on time • Negotiate contracted and spot rates with carriers • Secure spot capacity when contracted options are unavailable or suboptimal • Maintain rate cards and spot rate benchmarks by lane and equipment type • Track all assigned loads from pickup through delivery • Proactively identify risks (late pickups, missed appointments, breakdowns, capacity failures) • Coordinate recovery plans with carriers, FCs, and downstream partners • Escalate high-impact risks with clear mitigation options and tradeoffs • Provide weekend or after-hours support when needed • Balance service-level commitments with cost efficiency on a daily basis • Identify recurring cost drivers and performance issues by lane or carrier • Support continuous improvement efforts related to lane design, carrier mix, and tender strategy • Ensure accurate load status updates in TMS and internal systems • Validate carrier confirmations, PODs, and delivery timestamps • Support reporting on on-time performance and cost
Job Requirements
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
- Strong critical thinker who can evaluate tradeoffs and make sound decisions with incomplete information
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments with changing daily plans
- Clear, concise communicator who can escalate issues with context and proposed solutions
- Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or operations (preferred)
- Exposure to truckload transportation (FTL, LTL, dry van, box truck) (preferred)
- Experience working with TMS, carrier portals, or operational tracking tools (preferred)
- Familiarity with freight terminology, equipment types, or rate structures (preferred)
- Background in operations-heavy roles (dispatch, warehouse ops, field ops, customer ops) (preferred)
